Neurosteroids in brain

Exciting news out of Canada!!! Has anyone read about the news release from a Dr. Powers.....a study done shows that MS patients have a decreased number of neurosteroids in the brain. Studies are already underway for neurosteroids to treat epilipsy with neurosteroids and they want to expand testing with MS. This Doctor is very hopeful. I think this is exciting news!! Any thoughts?

Dr. Power is a colleague of my neuro and works at the MS clinic where I am seen.  Rena's neuro is also at this same clinic.  I'll be interested in hearing more when they begin recruiting for clinical trial subjects; I imagine that won't be for some time though as I don't believe thery have funding in place yet.

It's always exciting when some fresh news comes around, especially when it gives researchers new things to look at as far as a cause is concerned. Thanks for the heads-up!

Such a pity that it is another 10-15 years before they expect any thing will be developed which may help.

But always good to hear of a new therapy / theory.

I have not heard a thing about this. It's always encouraging to hear of some new discovery or treatment. Tell us more!

I wonder though if whatever this dr has discovered would apply to those of us with just spinal lesions.
