New symptoms... Merry Christmas to me :)

New symptoms... Merry Christmas to me :)

So... a couple of new symptoms have made an appearance this week. Just wondered if these were typical MS symptoms or if it is something else...OR maybe I'm just NUTS!?! (I'm in limboland for now)

I have started feeling like there is water dripping on my head and rolling down my face. (No dripping in extremeties, just my face) I literally have gotten up to look in the mirror for the water.

Also, I've started having LOTS more trouble with my fine motor skills. I could only wrap one present at a time this weekend, and kept ripping the paper. I also keep dropping anything and everything.

Finally, I can't pee! I feel like I need to, but I CAN'T. (Sorry if this is TMI)

Hiya, I might not be the best person to post the first reply to your post as I'm also in limboland (until tomorrow anyway!) and new to all this. However, I would say the water on face sensation is a symptom. I've been getting something similar on occasion. I feel like I have hairs brushing my cheek but there's nothing there and I sometimes feel like water is dripping onto my right arm. Very odd and I agree it makes you feel like you're going nuts! This forum has been a godsend for me because nobody else really gets what I'm going on about when I describe weird symptoms.
I know that bladder/urine problems can be a part of MS but I would check with your doctor because it could be a simple infection instead.
Re the motor skills...are you more tired than usual? I think tiredness can exagerate certain symptoms.
All the best to you, Zoe

Most important thing first is there is not TMI ever here - you can ask anyting and everything here. If you are having trouble urinating you definitely need to call the doctor soon if not immediately.  Retaining urine only leads to trouble, such as uti's and other infections.  So please, make that call and see someone.  Trouble peeing is very, very common with MS.

The dripping feeling - paresthesia at it's funnest.  It is that false sensation that our wonky nerve endings send at times.  I had it regularly on the right side of my head and would always reach up to wipe my scalp only to find it was dry.  Ice cold water feeling is certainly worth reporting to your doctor but it goes with the territory.

The problem with fine motor skills can be exacerbated like Zoe said, from fatigue or a number of other reasons, including frustration over having trouble using your fine motor skills.  It may be a symptom but it could also go away.

I have trouble peeing too. I have been checked out by an urologist and the issue is definitely neurological rather than urological.

Under normal circumstances your bladder retains urine until it senses that it's full. It then sends a message to the spigot that it's time to find a bathroom. once there your brain sends the spigot a message that it's OK to open up.

My messages in this area are a bit garbled. My spigot gets the message that it's time but it doesn't get the message that it's OK to open. Everything is out of sync.

I take Flomax which helps a great deal.

Lulu is so right, as usual!  My funky nerve endings make me feel like someone is running their finger along the base of my neck from left to right, makes me want to shrug my shouders to move whatever is there.  It comes and goes, is just annoying.

the urine issue, yes, do check it out. having had a kidney stone, I am on a first name basis with the bathroom or as my friend calls it "hovering".......that problem solved, I now go every 1-2 hours.  Urologist has cleared me, its not that, its neuro........so you ALWAYS need to check out the urology part first.  Kidney damage is not fun or painless.......

Good luck!
