New to forum, already had abusive/spam email

Hi all,
I just joined here this week.  Today I received an email in my inbox here that was inappropriate.  It was a suggestive email asking me to email back - was clearly a sexual type email without going into details.  I reported it as abuse.  I am concerned - is this a common occurrence here?  It's just troubling when you expect support for MS and receive something like this.  Is there more I should do other than sending the email to the "report abuse" button?

Thanks

Thanks everyone!  Med help deleted that person's account.  I really am enjoying checking out this forum.  It's very positive and informative.  I am newly diagnosed.  I read Quix welcome so I put my story in my journal if you'd be interested in checking it out.

I'm glad to hear the abuse is very unusual.  I look forward to connecting with all of you.

Hi and a very big welcome!!!  I don't think we have met yet, glad you are here.

You know 4 months or so ago there was never any of those type of posts or messages and then as Medhelp seamed to grow in the past few months I started seeing them on other topic sites.  Those people are sick but unfortunately they are everywhere.

This is the first time I have heard of it happening to one of the MS forum people but I am sure if you PM them the sender it will be taken care of.

Welcome and please stay - this is a great group of people!!

Hi,

That's happened to me a few times already.   Including yesterday.  I just blocked the message and deleted it.

next time if ever, I'll report it to medhelp.

Welocme to the forum.  What an awful thing to happen.  I've been on this forum for over a year and never had it happen.  But, lets talk about you.  What brings you our way?

I'm so sorry that happened.  I have been here forever, and have never experienced that.

MedHelp is great about responding to problems, I have found.

Stay with us.  We are glad you said something and reported the abuse.

Feel well,

This is a very rare occurence.  I hope after you reported the PM, than you blocked that person's name, so they can no longer contact you.  MedHelp will look at what you reported and delete their account with MedHelp anyway.  I would doubt that it will happen again.

This really IS a safe place.

I've been on this forum for a year and have never had a message llike that. I would recommend that you do not open messages from screen names you do not recognize.
