Night Vision

Hello Everyone Hope You Are All Keeping Well.
Can I Ask A Question Has People's Eyesight Got Worse In The Dark.
My Eyesight Has Got So Bad In The Dark That I Am Very Reluctant To Venture Outdoors Even When There Is Decent Street Lighting.
I Have Been Diagnosed With PPMS For Well Over A Year Now.

I had my flu thank you very much....but its gone and getting closer to getting better.

I can't see good at night either, but I found out i had cateracts this year and that may be the problem.  I also think it has to do with my dizzy's, my head is dizzy too. I allso cannot walk in the dark, i will fall down.

I am having cateract surgery on my right in January..which I did not know I had til this year...just like my asthma got a lot worse this last year.  Everything happened this last year..its strange if you ask me.

I am rambling this morning.....curious to hear other responses.

Hi Joe,
My night vision was getting so bad I hesitated to drive at night.  Then  I went to the eye doctor and we discovered I had dry eye - so dry that it was giving me headaches, pain behind my eye, and night vision problems.  All of them are much better since I started with restasis eye drops.

Just a thought - maybe you should check with your eye doctor, too.  Vision problems can be associated with the MS and the problems with the optic nerves.  Only a good specialist can tell for sure and get you back on track.

Me too.  I was told by my eye doctor I can not drive at night.

By choice I do not drive at night.  I see four headlights instead of two and I loose the road.

I believe accidents can really cause a hurtin'

Hi there, I've been Dx with PPMS this past Aug and I've had problems with Night vision for quite awhile.. I thought it was just an age thing till other things started going weird too.  

I don't drive at night...oncoming headlights bother me as well, so when I'm in a car in the evening..I wear sun glasses or keep me eyes closed alot of the time.. which makes me dizzy..so it's not easy.

I have terrible night vision and try not to drive I dont have cataracts but didnt relate it to the MS as my eye exams never spot anything - maybe I should mention it to the neuro..

i Have lost my ability to see in the dark,  I have night lights in every room in my house

I have night vision problems too. I thought it was a need for glasses, but when I went to the doctor they said my vision okay ... maybe just a need for some reading glasses but even that was slight.

At the time, I was still in limboland but decided to mention the MS since I knew there were eye symptoms -- not that I had heard about a night vision problem. I also told them my eyes sometimes felt like slot machines ... spinning things into focus when I moved my head ... but nothing was completely off with my vision.

However, once I mentioned the MS the eye doc said, "Oh, that explains it all." She explained that while I might not have ON that MS could cause all kinds of crazy eye issues that she wouldn't be able to "see" and that only my MRI would be able to see an lesion activity. I'd never heard that before, but I guess it makes sense.

I'm now diagnosed and my eye issues have been "officially" attributed to MS. Doesn't help my vision though ;-)

I can still drive at night, but I feel very cautious about it and try not to do it for any distance. I guess night vision is just another fun symptom we get, huh?
