Not sure about symptoms??

Hello all, I guess I'll get right into it..
I'm a 21 yr old male, in Chicago, no past history of MS that I know of in my family. I am a bit of a hypochondriac and get easily stressed out so it could easily be something related to that, or something less severe than MS. Anyway here are the symptoms I've had:
*About 5 months ago a few toes on my left foot would go numb quite often. It would happen laying in bed, walking around etc. It doesn't happen as often lately, but occasionaly it does occur.
*I have what I consider to be fairly normal muscle twitches, less than once a month i'll notice a muscle in my thigh twitching a little but it goes away that day.
*My most recent symptom is the one causing me the most stress- I was working out at the gym last week (granted I was doing weight lifting and exerting myself, not too extremely but moderate amounts) and I noticed as I lifted the bench press I felt an electric shock sensation run the length of my left arm (again my LEFT side, like my foot). I have only felt this electric shock feeling when I lift something super heavy in my arm, otherwise no shocking. BUT for the past 4-5 days my left arm has felt very weird.. From what I can tell, my left pinky goes fairly numb, and throughout the day my entire left arm feels "weird". I don't really know how to describe it, it's slightly weak but not too overwhelming. It gets a little tingly too.
Other than that I haven't had any of the vision symptoms people mention, or consistent muscle spasms or twitches. My other idea is it could be peripheral nerve damage possibly? I'm just extra concerned about MS because it's just on one side of my body.
ANY suggestions??

If you feel that there is something wrong, again please go to your doc or ER.
On the other hand Focusing on it and picking it apart will only make things worse, the mind is a miracle.
Some studies done on people have shown that if a mind truly believes something is wrong it will convince its self by creating symptoms.
Since you said that you are a bit of a "hypochondriac" this may be something to consider.

Case in point,
I remember as a child being in school and wanting out of school so bad I would convince myself I had a terrible stomach ache. I really was able to convince my body that my tummy hurt.
Of course this was only an example.

I don't want you to think I am taking your symptoms and dismissing them in anyway. On the contrary I am only trying to ease the stress on you.

Just so that you know on this forum we our only people with MS, the possibility of MS or a family member of someone with MS.
MS is not a easy thing.
It is a life time fight and on going war I wouldn't wish on anyone.

We cannot diagnose.
But we are here for support as I'm sure you have seen in the other posts.

Good luck and I hope you can findout what may be going on.

So to update this, the "electric shock" sensations i've been getting in my arm has pretty much spread to all my limbs and I just noticed it on my face today. I touched a part of my cheek that caused a light tingling/electric feeling. Also my legs have been doing it pretty much all over throughout the day. I'm SO nervous about these symptoms. I'm hoping it could be peripheral neuropathy or maybe something with my spine related to posture such as a herniated disk or something.

Ideas???

It would be best if you see your doctor about what is going on. As for the burning pain you feel it may be simply because you are over lifting and you are not used to it.

But I don't want you to put this things aside without going to the doc. It could be something you need treatment for.

The best thing to do is calm down and wait to see what he or she says.Don't panic yourself until its time. MS has so many symptoms it is very hard to tell what it may be by what you said.

I worked many years doing Construction with my husband and when I over lifted or over worked my limbs would sometimes burn.

Welcome to are  forum and please feel free to ask any other questions you may have. I hope others post to your question and help ease your fears after all thats what we do her for eachother.
