I really just have some questions. I have dealing with chest pains and heart rhythm issues for the last 8 years and it has just progressively gotten worst. I went in for a cardiac ablation in Jan of this year because the doc said that I had an electrical problem. After they went in nothing happened. During my follow up with the doc he told my husband and I that it looks like I could have an autonomic nervous system disorder but did not do a referral for more testing. I went to my family doc and she did a lot of blood work and found out that I have a vitamin D deficiency. I am wondering how many of you with a MS have a vitamin D deficiency problem? My family doc is now sending me to a neurologist for more testing because of the deficiency and my other symptoms.
Other symptoms include: dizziness, tightness in back, shortness of breath, chest pains, brain fog, tingling in arms and hands mainly when lying down.
There are probably more but I can't remember right now.
There are studies about the level of Vitamin D in people with MS. I'm participating in two of them, in fact. Low Vitamin D is not used as a diagnostic criterium for MS, its currently a correlation that's being studied.
It sounds like you had a fairly serious cardiac procedure done just a couple of months ago. If you have a history of cardiac issues and arrhythmia, it sounds like many of your symptoms should also be brought up to your cardiologist to exclude the aforementioned potential autonomic issues. I have no idea why your family doctor would be sending you to a neurologist based on the history you've mentioned.
