Thank you so much. My DO had me worried when I saw him last week, because he said it was related to my MS.
I am hoping it is something that can be resolved with physical therapy, and not surgery.
I am still undergoing treatment for lymphocytic colitis. So, I don't feel 'up' for surgery.
Sheila
Sorry to hear this is ongoing for you, Sheila. Another annoying reminder that MS doesn't exempt us from all that other stuff! Hopefully though that means this is not your new 'baseline' and something that can be successfully dealt with on another front.
I saw my DO last week-he examined me & said he suspected Ulnar Nerve Compression. Ordered an EMG/Nerve Conduction Study, whichI had done this morning.
The Neuro who performed the test found "something" wrong. He pointed it out to the Tech, and she said, "Yes, I saw it, too", and he repeated that area. My hand hurt like you-know-what.
Then, he did the neck area, and I was praying out loud.
I'm anxious to get the results.
My right hand is getting much worse-cramping when I hold the computer mouse. My right arm hurts.
Not my MS, apparently.
If this is a new symptom, and it continues for a couple of days- I'd call the doctor to see if he/she thinks it could be a new relapse. The fingers on my left arm have been numb for a long time, but it started with a pretty bad relapse.
Hi, Mike.
I'm sorry that your fingers have been numb for so many years.
It started Wednesday with the outer 3 fingertips, and yesterday, I couldn't hold the bottle of my shower soap with my right hand.
This morning, I tried to hold the lighter to light a candle and couldn't do it.
My left hand is tingling, but numb, if that makes any sense.
Yes, for me, as well, this is MS related.
My MS is definitely progressing.
It is indeed very frustrating.
So much for Rebif slowing the progression.
Sheila
My fingers have been numb since my first major relapse in 2009, however to varying degrees. Sometimes the numbness affects my 3 outer fingers more, but often it includes all my fingers, and not just the tips, my whole hand looses feeling.
Some days I cannot feel anything at all, a little worse so in my left hand, but most days I can sort of feel but there is numbness present.
My dexterity is not what it used to be, and I'm often frustrated due to my inability to perform simple tasks easily, like turning the page on a newspaper, or starting the threads on a nut and bolt, etc...
For me this is definitely MS related.
Mike
Mine are getting worse. Couldn't hold my shower wash bottle this evening.
I'm sorry your fingertips are numb, too.
Sheila
Yes it happens to me a lot of the time, right now they are numb, take care
Wobbly
I am so sorry.
When did you lose the sensation in your fingertips?
Yesterday, the numbness was just in the outer 3 fingers on both hands, now it is in all 4 fingers and thumbs.
Sheila
my fingertips can no longer sense when i have grasped something without my looking at them. Dropped something down beside the seat of my car last week and tried groping around under seat off and on for two days. Finally had to ask my son to get it and he did so in seconds. arrrrrrrrrgh
Jeez, I am really sorry. (:
MS really does some strange things to our bodies.
I can't remember names anymore either. (:
Sheila
Hi, Ren.
I'm glad the numbness has been short lived.
Thank you-I hope it goes away soon. It's weird not being able to really feel the keys on the board as I type.
Sheila
My fingertips have been numb for years.
Sheila,
Yes, I have had numb fingertips before but ususally it is transient lasting only a day or two. Just one of the many numbness/tingling areas on list of areas afected by MS.
Hope yours is short-lived as well!
Ren
