Taking a survey here. For those of you who have numbnessNumbness and tingling, how long has it lasted? My son has been numb, chest down to legs, and right handHand or foot spasms Hand tremor, for over four months. I know that everyone is different, but anyone for whom numbnessNumbness and tingling has just not gone away for a long time? How long? Months, years??? For the record, he still exercises, works, walks and keeps moving, although it is hard going.
I have had numbness and tingling somewhere in my body ( I have MS) periodically for going on 13 years. It is almost a daily occurence and never resolved after my first MS attack.
Let's see..My numbness started early in October and lasted until about the end of January. It abated, came back strong for a week early March, and abated again. I'm a Limbolander.

Thanks for the answers. My son is a definite MS dx, and keeps waiting for the numbness to GO AWAY or at least move. We just keep hoping. This could be his baseline, but who knows. Wishing all of you some relief.
With MS, you just never know! It can be very frustrating, but you develop a live-and-let-live attitude. On the good days, enjoy it, and on the bad days, just wait it out.
As I said earlier, four months is too soon to know whether the damage is permanent. Remember that your son's brain (how old is he?) is trying to heal the damage that caused the numbness. Neurological repair can take a long time. I don't think I have a spot where the numbness resolved completely, but I have several areas that got better - from complete numbness to just a partial loss of sensation.
I am a limbo-lander, but I've had numbness in both hands and feet off and on (mostly on) for the past four years. It comes and goes, but I'm pretty sure that it will never resolve at this point. However, I'm able to carry on, so it could be much worse. However, it does wear you down and it's annoying. I hope your son is able to recover soon.
I was dx in '98 and have been numb from the neck down ever since. It's a funny numb, if someone pats my knee it sends shock waves, but if they just lay a hand on my knee I can't feel it. MS, weird.

Tell him to get lots of rest!
