Numbness/Tingling Question

Hi All,

Does anyone know is there any difference in the numbness tingling that one would get if it was from your neck (Ie) nerve compression, or if it was from a lesion?

Would the tingling be affected differently by movement?  Would tingling in arm for example usually be accompanied by neck pain, if the neck were the cause?

Ok, I'm asking because I am having tingling in my whole left arm and hand, initially just noticed it in my hand this morning, but now (just got back from a gym workout/run)  it actually extends from my left face and scalp, can feel it in my armpit, back of shoulder, and all the way down my arm, and am having like a burning sensation wrapping the top of my arm.  Have the same thing, but much much less on the right arm. I am right handed.  Movement intensifies the hand tingling.

Quite weird.  The thing is when i had MRI last year, it did show some degenerative changes in the neck. But my neck is not painful now.  Maybe this is from neck and easily explainable?

Thanks for your comments.  Hope you are doing better.

Am really hoping this is just neck related and it goes away soon.  Have to travel tonight and won't be back home for at least 10 days.

What you describe sounds a lot like sensations that I experienced during my first big flare.  It progressed from tingling to numbness in the locations you mention.  I didn't notice any difference with movement.  I only notice movement affecting sensation with respect to the occasional appearance of Lhermitte's sign.  During this current relapse, those areas are again numb, no tingling now.  I have at least one lesion detected in the c3-c4 area.

Having said that I would think that disc degeneration could probably cause similar sensations due to nerve compression.
