OT Happy Veterans Day

OT Happy Veterans Day

Thanks to all who have served our great country and to their families. I was at Arlington yesterday and took some pictures for those who can't get there. The funeral was for a Navy spouse. My favorite part and I always try to catch them is when the sailors disappear into thin air to denote death. It is chilling. They time their quiet exit when The Chaplain starts and they walk through the head stones and you look and they have vanished! I went up to visit my folks on Chaplains' hill. My parents are under a nice tree. They would be pleased.

I met Julie and what a great gal she is. Smart and funny. She is the real deal. I was sad our time together was so short.

You are welcome, one and all.  It was an honor and priviledge to serve under the red, white and blue.

I  add my admiration and thanks for others who served in times of conflict past and those still serving today.

I am a very proud Papa of an Air Force Staff Sgt. My son has been to an "undisclosed southwest Asia" location twice now. He loves his job doing jet engine maintainence and was even awarded a Brigadier General's coin for a job well done.

And Many Thanks to all who have served.

Thinking of our servicemen and women past and present on this Remembrance Day, and wearing my poppy proudly.

Armistice Day

I feel particularly moved this year by thinking of all those who have served in the army both in the Uk and our allies and fellow partners. I cannot feel anything but relief now that my husband is back from Afghanistan and thank God when I see another soldier returning in a coffin, that I am not one of those bereaved wives.

I have been asked to lay the wreath on Sunday at our village service (as my DM is en route for Germany) and this will be an enormous honour.

Thanks Alex. My dad had a full military funeral with the gun salute. He died at an early age - a victim of Agent Orange.

And thanks to all the other veterans and their families - for their service and sacrifice.

My cousin's husband is on full disability from the effects of Agent Orange. I'm so sorry for anyone who's had this.
