OT: Hello/Update

Hey Everyone!

I'm stopping in to say hi after a brief period of mourning my father's sudden passing the day before Valentine's Day. I will say that the loss of a parent is immeasurable and nothing could of prepared me for it.

On a positive note:
I'm happy to report I've been taking my Tecifera (still in love); eating clean; doing Zumba/family walks and already see the benefits in regards to MS. Prior to even the exercise, I noticed once my diet changed, I was no longer having MS Hug experiences. The hug was getting progressively worse, to the point I had to completely freeze and wait for it to pass. Score 1 for clean diet! I'm visit my Neuro in a few weeks for my 6 month follow up and am excited to share my good news with her!

I've been living life with the mantra that anything is better than nothing. :) I really appreciate all of the connections, knowledge and support I received here during my very new/early months.

I hope to stop in more often, though the baby is 16 months now and keeps us completely busy! Hope each of you had a Happy and Safe 4th of July!

Be Well,
Lizzie

Lizzie,
Th loss of a parent is a milestone in anyone's life. I have lost both parents and my sister. I was closest to my father so he was the hardest for me. It has been 18 years so I am better about it. I am glad the diet has worked well for you. I am glad the Tecfidera is working out. Exercise is also good. I also follow a good diet and exercise. I do not smoke or drink. It may be why my MS has been stable for many years. I wanted to go on Tecfidera but my doctor did not want me to because I am on Chemo. I think the chemo helps the MS. Take care of yourself. A 16 month old is a handful.

LuLu - You were one of my first friends here and someone I considered my expert. Your warm words are appreciated, I am hoping to report no new or active lesions when I get my next MRI this fall :)

Dan - You are another person my post was directed at as you always have wonderful insight and a positive attitude! The seasoned regulars on this site are what truly make it a special place to visit. Your words couldn't have been more true and I want to say thank you in advance for offering to listen/talk. That truly made my day.

You guys are the best!

Ditto to LauraLu's words.  Feel free to PM if you ever feel the need to talk about it outside of the spotlight.  I've been through more losses with people than I could list, and shared plenty of my own.  Losing a parent is always hard.  Losing anyone suddenly is always hard.  Losing anyone loved is always hard.  Sharing can help.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your father - I hope you have many fond memories to hold close to get you through these tough times.

That is great news about the benefits of eating clean - I am always happy to hear when one of us is feeling better.

Again, my condolences for the death of your father.
((hugs)) Laura
