Alex,
Oh how horrible! I feel so bad for you not being able to eat now. That's just not fair!!
I'm thinking the celiacs would have shown up before now but Ren has a great idea about calling your PCP. Maybe they will see you and give you the results. If you are a positive thinker (some days, right), I would say that the gastro didn't find anything major or you be in his office ASAP.
Until you can eat again try popsicles and hard candy and be sure to stay hydrated even if you just have to suck on ice cubes.
Most of all Congrats on the paintings!!!!
Hugs,
Erin :)
Dear Alex,
I can't believe your GI is so far out. Certainly your PCP can get you in earlier if you can't eat!
Ido like your good note! That's great that you sold 3 more paintings. Like you said , no more putting off the painting, which is a good thing!
I hope they fix this problem soon! hopefully the ultrasound will show something that will point to a dx and then they can treat it.
Hugs,
Ren
PS Answer your phone please.
Thanks everyone.
I had the ultra sound. It hurt a lot when she pressed certain places. She could not tell me anything. The Gastrointerologists office called I have an appointment July 6th. If it is gastro I will be mighty thin by then.
It has been 24 hours since I really ate and I am starving. I ate two spoonfuls of sorbet. It was hard to walk away. I am going to see how that sits in an hour.
I can stand to lose a few pounds.
On a good note I sold three more paintings today. Now I have to paint.
(((Alex))),
Many huge hugs to you. I am sorry your are in such pain. Just wanted you to know I am thinking of you and really hope you feel better soon,
Michelle
I'm worried that you soon will feel very weak, which will only make things worse. I wish I could suggest some solutions for you, but can only let you know I'm thinking of you and pulling for you.

Alex,
I'm so sorry you are having pain. I hope your doctors can figure it out very quickly. ((hugs)) and try to rest.

A friend of mine went through something similar. She was hospitalized a few times with the pain and for rehydration, etc.,. She was severely ill every time she ate anything. The only thing her tests ever showed was severe gastroperesis (sp?)--slow emptying of the intestinal tract. She was miserable, though. Eventually (over months) she wsa able to introduce bland foods back into her diet, I don't remember everything, but I know white rice and plain chicken were among the first things she could eat again.
I'm so sorry you're feeling so badly. I hope they can figure out the cause soon.
Stephanie
Alex,
I'm SO sorry you are so miserable and in such pain. I don't have any new to add to the above comments, although Mary's Celiac disease is a good suggestion to tell your PCP.
Please be sure and communicate this level of discomfort to your doc. The need to know everything you can offer in the way of symptoms so they can stop this pain and fix the problem.
You know I've got you in my thoughts and am sending comforting hugs and thoughts your way. I am so glad Polly is there as I know she herself is a comfort to you.
Hoping you feel better SOON,
Ren
I'll be thinking about you Alex. That's got to be terrible. If the tests for likely problems all come up negative, you might want to have the doctors look at a gluten sensitivity (Celiac disease).
Gluten is in many foods, especially the grain/carb foods we tend to eat when trying to settle an upset GI tract. They end up making the problem worse. It seems like it's becoming more common these days. Maybe it's just identified more often now.
Mary
Alex,
I do know how you feel. Sometimes when my IBS has been acting up I don't want to eat either do to the cramping I get in my Adomin, not to mention the impending accident that will follow. I do hope they willf ind out what is wrong soon so you can get some releif and nurishment.
Take care..
Dennis
Sounds horrid!! The only thing i can think of is totally emptying your bowel, though i'm not sure how much that would help. Its just that my dd has always had bowel & stomach type problems, for her its caused by a small section in her bowel that doesnt work very well. She ended up having an emergency apendectamy, that turned out to be her bowel issues mimicing apendix. I cant remember the name it goes by, but its something to do with the muscles that make the bowel function, like any muscle these too can spasm and become spastic.
Again sorry for not being able to be of more help, i've got a good ear for listening even if i cant always come up with solutions lol. Polly seems to be able to read you well!!!
Cheers.....JJ
Thanks starryeyes1 it is helpful to know someone is out there.
JJ,
I can't do a shake or broth that is too much. I have had a pelvic ultra sound, CT Scan with Barium and Contrast, abdominal x-rays, blood work, urine analysis, and I have an abdominal ultra sound tomorrow.
I just got to the place I can't eat at all so I have not lost any weight. I have been in abdominal pain and majorly bloated for weeks now.
Everything is normal except the bloating and pain.
I live in the city of medicine but things move slowly. It took me four months years ago to get an almond sized stone removed from my ureter.
I am used to pain. It gets lonely at night. I feel as bad as the night I ate goat curry and threw up all night even though I am not vomiting.
Polly is even worried she won't leave my side.
Alex
Hey Alex,
Sorry to hear your not able to eat, are you thinking it could be a bug or another part of the MS? Do you end up with pain if you drink? I'm thinking it might be worth trying to get your neutrients through liquids for a while, broths and protein shake type of things, just until it settles or whilst your having tests they work out the problem and a better solution.
Sorry i cant be more helpful
Cheers.....JJ
I hate to hear that you're feeling so bad.I hope that the Dr finds out what is wrong. Just know that I am thinking of you as well as everyone here.
Take Care
