Hi Maria

Glad to see you've already posted to this forum already. My other post to you recommended adding any other tests or symptoms leading to the LP etc which might help people help you with suggested answers.

Chin up!

Hi Maria
Do you have 4 bands only in the csf serum or in both the csf and blood serum? What is scaring you? Lupus is one of the illnesses that has o bands. When I had 12 o bands they then tested me for Lupus. I only had bands in the csf and not the blood. I tested positive for ANA but negative to the anti DNA. If the anti DNA was positive they go towards Lupus.

If you are worried you have MS and Lupus because of the o bands I would not worry. If you are worried because of your symptoms. MS and Lupus share many of the same symptoms. That is why they check those going through the MS diagnosis process for Lupus. I had absolutely no symptoms or signs of Lupus but they checked me anyway.

The amount of o bands means little. They are like tree rings. Once you get them they never go away. In my case with 12 and a lifetime of documented neurological damage they said 12 o bands just showed I had had MS a long time. Many illnesses have o bands. Many people with MS have 0 o bands.
