Odd question about being flushed

I'm very pale skinned usually. I don't tan (I burn, peel and turn right back to pasty white, so I don't even try anymore LOL). But, I've always tended to get random flushed cheeks, even without feeling warm.

It has gotten more frequent in the last few years, and I'm pretty much flushed most the time while I'm on the IV steroids this time around.

I was just curious if flushed face means anything other then I have weird skin LOL

I can certainly relate to both the paleness and flushing.  Seems the red face, when it comes on, is so much more noticeable with us "palies" than those who have more pigment in their skin.

I was having random face flushing as well especially when I was on oral prednisone and also the IV steroids.  It was so obvious that the neuro in the ER was checking every part of my body wondering if I was having some kinds of reaction to the antibiotic I was taking.  Of course she prescribed an IV push of 250mg of solu medrol because of this and guess what?  More flushing!  

How do you know when you are getting the flushness?  I do feel it and it doesn't burn until someone mentions how red my face is and then of course I start feeling a burn.  Probably psychological.  

I am not sure abour you age group, but I am nearing that age when face flushing starts.  So far I am only having it when on steroids.  I hate when it happens, but it goes away after several hours.  I hope this was a little helpful.

When I have had IV steroids in the past, I ALWAYS get flushed. It is a side effect of the meds, and like you, I am very very white/pale. I too have never had a tan, although on our Greece honeymoon, I was a bit burgundy! LOL

I also get flushed it I have oral steroids, or drink alcohol, or at random times. But, the steroids always do it to me.

From one pasty to another...ha.

I just wanted to agree with what Michelle and Julie said. I also get the flushing when I am  on steroids. I remember when I had steroids for the first time, about 12 hours later  my cheeks and chest were bright red, and felt warm. I just assumed that I had been out in the sun too long. Well, after having multiple doses of steroids over the past year, and turning red every single time, I've finally deduced that the flushing is a side effect. I am also pale skinned. It usually comes on around 12 hours after my first dose, and stays for a day or so after my last dose. At least I don't need any blush! lol

  Yes to what the opthers said about meds. I too get flushed quite often from them, In fact I have been on Prednisone since January and I look like I've got a sun burn every day. I also think I remember something about whne beening on steriods you have to be carefull about being in the sun as it makes it easier to get burnt. I am also a fair skined person, and I actually like the flushing to an extent as I finally have some color to my skin. :)
