Off Topic:mental test for ssi

Hello
I was just wondering if anyone had experience with this. I have worked my entire life. Then after being struck with MS, I am unable to do this anymore. I applied for ssdi for the 1st time in Jan. They sent me to an outside pysch. for mental testing. I didnt know what to expect since I have never had one of those. The paper said maybe to expect to spend a few hours, but it only took 30mins.
I spent most of the time drawing boxes and dots. Yes, you heard me right...drawing boxes and dots. The dr. gave me about 10 pictures and said to copy them, so I did. I just dont get how on this world you can get something out of that. The dr. did ask me some questions at first. Told me to remember 3 words at the beginning. Asked me who the president & vice was and past president & vice. For the life of me, I couldnt remember the 3 words she told me. All I could remember was 3 words from a piece of paper and told her that. For the life of me, I dont think I got the vice presidents right. I felt stupid about that but at least I think I gave someone in politics.
I just dont get it. This was insane to me. How could this 30min drawing session to me, come to equate my mental status? Maybe someone can help me on this. Thanks

Hi ladies,
What seems so silly to us is sometimes the simplest and easist tests for the doctors to perform that also tell them tons of information.

Those neuro tests where we touch our nose, stroke our shin with our other foot and all those simple tasks really give solid answers to our problems.

The same goes with those simple connect the dots and remember these words psych tests.  As silly as they seem, they are invaluable to the doctors.

I should also note that both of these tests are extremely hard to fake the results.  The tests are much to simple to even cheat at LOL

I just did the cognitive eval, in a mini-one hour version in February.  I also had draw patterns, name familiar objects and remember words.  The tests have to do with long term and short term memory, spatial relationships, recall ability, reasoning, and a whole bunch more concepts.

The doctors were not wasting you time putting your through these exercises.  I hope this helps some.

be well, Lulu
