Old Home Week?

Its great to see sidesteps, fluffysmom and wobbly, among others, pop up this week.  Do you have the New year's  blues and missing us?  Perhaps.  Whatever the reason it sure is great to see some old familiar faces in the crowd.

I hope you won't be strangers and for the rest of you oldtimers still lurking, come on out and let us know what's happening with you, too!

hugs to all, Laura

PD sounds painful and enough motivation to stick with the PT exercises.  My foot sidelined me with mine!

Poppy - I hope you get a well deserved break and can rest and rejuvinate.

Imme- congrats on the financial security.

Corriel - how's the crossword coming? I hope you started on a simple one.

Hopefully a quiet time over the next week for me.  Only three more weeks until I'm finished my current work contract and then have some time off.  Battling pain at the moment so I'm a bit on the grumpy side.  The weather is awful meaning I can't get outside and distract myself in the garden so I've read two books in the past week instead and munched my way through way too much food!!

Many congrats & best wishes, immi & family.

LauraLu, as you know, I don't often lurk; if I'm quiet it's because I am busy.  Rarely do I get a chance to read more than a thread or so without being moved to put in my two cents worth.

Finished my most recent PT prescription this week.  Not sure how much it helped, but as I keep trying to retrain myself to do the stretching exercises EVERY TWO HOURS of every day, I hope I will see some improvement in flexibility, especially my neck.  As it is, I have some difficulty backing out of our driveway and in changing lanes on the road, both tasks requiring that I look back over my right shoulder -- and it hurts when I do that.

Thanks, both of you! He's a software engineer. It's with a startup that's based both here (Dublin) and San Francisco. It was an (understandably) merciless hiring process, so we're kind of just in the afterglow of it being over.

He'd put in his notice at his job in early December, so luckily this isn't a case of us living off savings for too long. But I'm not terribly adept at dealing with uncertainty, so this is great news.

PT is so recommended for all of us with MS.  There is always going to be something the therapist can suggest or tweak that makes it just a bit better.

I started PT today & will be going 3 times a week for at least the next few months.

Hopefully it will help with my back pain, the therapist said she didn't think it would help which is also what the Dr said. But she is hoping to strengthen my core.

She said if I can strengthen my core it will help with no going down hill quite so quickly.

I get my orthotics tomorrow - I sure hope they help with the foot pain.  It's not the MS slowing me down, it is a d#$n hammertoe developing.  This getting old is getting old.

I will assume you looked it up and now know the Old Home Week saying has been around for centuries.  I believe it's origin is here in the States.

Perhaps next week it will be an Folk's  Home gathering!

I'm on tenterhooks all week waiting to hear if my husband got his dream job. (should know sometime after Thursday's third round). I'll be honest, he seems to be taking the stress a lot better than me! I'm a wreck.

And Laura, interesting term. I'd never heard of Old Home Week before. It's my 'learn something new' of the day!

Had physio yesterday but no more appointments this week. Feeling achy and tired so I need to hunker down and do some exercise and start a routine for that.

After a really ling time, I have decided to try dating again. Bachelor #1 and I are going for coffee tomorrow night. I met him online so another first for me.

Despite my horrendous constructiinal and visuospatial issues, I am also going to attempt my first jigsaw puzzle.

Not sure if this is all leading up to some sort of mid-life crisis or what.

Have a good week everyone!

Have been taking it really easy last few days due to this stupid lingering cold, but keeping my poor husband awake because of snoring caused by said cold. Hopefully feel more pery tomorrow while getting my grey roots addressed :) ,  looking after my friend's 8 year old on Weds which is always fun, derm on Thurs, dinner and a film on Friday night, and baking when I'm up to it for a group I volunteer with. And working on my three New Year's resolutions all week - as I'm able, time with my treadmill and Season 2 of Suits; reading (52 books this year is my goal, have finished two so far), and an hour a day practicing beginner's Italian. I like having all of this on the go to give my days some structure.

I'm just waiting on my MRI results this week. I'm happy to say my little dog has improved & appears out of the woods. He still has some neurological deficits but nothing we can't handle. He's a happy boy as is his mummy now.

I hope everyone has a good week as well.

Karry.

Busy week here, Tysabri on Wednesday, if shipment comes in tomorrow, am overdue and READY.  Picked up Sandy tonight, she flew home from Austria after visiting her hubby for a month, hopefully soon he will be here and no more trips!

Diesel found out today she can amuse herself for at least 30 minutes with a plastic coke bottle, longer if she has to take out all the toys I put back into her toy box.  She is growing by leaps and bounds.

Other than that, nothing going on, hope everyone has a good week with good things happening.
