One last stasticity question before I spend hours at the dr LOL

One last stasticity question before I spend hours at the dr LOL

I just want to double check that you guys think my foot problem might be spasticity before I drag 4 kids to the doctors office tomorrow :-)

It started last week with a burning and stinging on both feet, but noticeably more on my right foot. By Sunday the burning & stinging was really bad. On monday the foot muscles started hurting. The muscle under the arch has been sore for about a month, ever since I had a really bad (but luckily short lasting!) cramp. Since then that muscle has been sore and feels like one wrong move will cause it to cramp up again.

On Monday the muscle along the top outside of my foot, the one that runs from the ankle to the baby toe, started hurting. It is a pretty bad soreness, and if I turn the foot at all it feels like a painful stretch. If I'm sitting with my legs straight out in front of me, my toes pointing up in the air, then I can only turn my foot towards my left foot about 1/2 as much as I could turn my left foot towards my right. At that 1/2 way point, the outside muscle starts to hurt pretty bad and I feel a "stretch" in the muscles all the way up my outer leg to my hip.

I'm still walking ok for the most part. I can lift my foot up off the floor though it does hurt. If I do not want to have it hurt then I will just slide my foot forward keeping my toes/upper area on the floor.

I take neurontin (well, the generic form) once a day at night to help me be more comfortable. I usually take 300mg, if I'm really sore I've taken 400mg. I'm approved to take 500mg, and for the last couple nights I've taken that, and it has helped me sleep.

Also, when I wake up my foot is sore but not horribly so. Within an hour of being up and about my day it gets worse, and through the day it gets more and more painful.

I apologize for asking so many questions on this! Most of the info I have found about spastic muscles describe the effects on the leg or arm muscles. I'm not finding a lot of info on the foot.

Thank you all! I hope you are having a wonderful "Hump Day"  :-)

Spasticity is velocity dependent resistance to movement in a muscle.  Spasticity in the foot is not commonly this direction.  This isn't sounding like it to me, but hearing about it versus feeling it is totally different. That didn't help much :(

Good luck at the doctor!

Whatever it is sure sounds like it warrants a trip to a physician.  Hope you are seeing a Neurologist for this issue.

Secondly, I can understand not wanting to drag four children to your appointment, but look at it this way, if you don't take care of yourself and end up worse off (i.e. can't walk at all)...look after yourself.  A mommy taking care of herself is a mommy really thinking about her children.

Keep us posted.

I would be inclined to agree with Ashley. This really does not sound like
the typical Spasticity. BUT...then again, nothing is typical about MS...Lol

Sounds like you have a great description to give to your doctor.
Good Luck my Friend.

I would be very interested in what the DR says about this.

I have a similar thing happening in my thigh and arm. Painful for weeks and now loss of ability to move as freely without pain and tightness of the muscle.

I go to physio and on much research I am convinced this is muscle spasms or mild spasticity.
