I get numbness in my hands and feet when I sleep and as soon as I move them, it goes away and comes back again when I stop moving.  My Nuero said that it's not MS.  Anyone else has this?  Anyone else have any idea what it could be?  It's been about two months and up to my doctor's visit on Friday, I thought it was my MS.  But now I am confeused..It's really annoying and wakes me up all the time at night.  Anyone know?
God bless you all.

This is not normal especially in light of your other neurological symptoms.  I get this a lot (less now since I'm in remission), and have an MS diagnosis.  It does wake me up at night and I can't move the arm.  I have to use my other arm to move my arm about and with time and can move it again.

My wife had similar symptoms in her hands several years ago, which was diagnosed as carpal tunnel syndrome.  Surgical repair made it go away, so it must have been a good dx.  I don't think the ankles bear enough similarity to the wrists to explain the feet going to sleep, though.

On my initial visit, my neuro asked about numbness, and I mentioned that I've had my left arm go to sleep on rare occassions when I was laying on it, but that it always returns to normal when I get up and move it.  He seemed to attach a great deal more importance to that than I would have expected, and believes that carpal tunnel is the cause.  Mine's never been anywhere near severe enough to wake me up, though.

Hi Ausp,

I don't know if this is normal for MS or not.  I know that numbness is one of the major symptoms of MS.  Have you talked to your neuro about this problem?  I think it would be a good idea.

I'm undx, but also wake up with numb arms, hands, and feet.  Being undx, I don't know why this is happening to me.

Please have this checked out soon.

Take care,
doni
