Optic Neuritus maybe, tell me what you think pls

Hi,

One of the fun (not!) symptoms i've had during my episodes is pain in my left eyeball, think someone keeps attacking your eyeball with an icepick, when thats not happening your eyeball aches so much you know you have a left eye ball but you wouldn't know you have a right, that should get you pretty close to how it feels. Anyway, I'm not a headache/migrane person, it usually happens at the begining whilst everything else is cranking up and then when i get back to normal-ish i can again forget i have eyeballs.

I started having periods of blurred vision back in my 30's, eyes blurry for a few days, then weeks, then fine again, i've been tested by the optometrist every 2 years since but my eye sight always comes out as 'normal' not requiring glasses. Although for the last couple of years despite normal vission in the tests, i've had to use none scripted 1.5 magnifiying glasses to read or i simple cant see the words, she did pick up i was very light sensitive, which is so bad now i wear sunnies even in winter but nothing to explain why I cant see clearly every now and again.

These none clear times are getting longer, yes in line with the length of an episode, I say blurred but should i be saying double? When i try to focus, I can see (ha) the image is actually superimposed, one just slightly above the other, like a bad printouts gosting affect, even with the glasses on its still the same just bigger. I experience some other weird things with my eyes, when i close my eyes, my eyeballs are bouncing up and down, the only way to stop it is to strain them looking off to one side. Sometimes when i look at my eyes the left pupil is bigger than the right, changing the light doesn't change them, it ends when it does lasting for upto 15 minutes before they again go back to being the same size, weird.

I've read the stories about ON they seem quite exstreem but with everything else thats going on, it got me wondering if what i experience could still be within this issue overall, i find i ignore a lot of what happens mainly because things iventually to go back to normal, with this episode though its all been going on since Easter and its starting to drive me loopy. Yes i know go and see an opthalmologist to be sure but before i do, is this what your talking about when you mention your ON?

Cheers........JJ

Thanks in advance :)

Sorry i cant spell anymore!!!

I would go to a specialist who could tell you alot more... I have had double/blurry vision on and off for a few years, dull pain behind my eyes...usually one or the other... eyes that feel like they wonder etc...

but have not been Dx with ON.. so you should check it out..OK..

I have luckily not had ON. They told me if one eye hurts when I turn my head especially to call. Or if I look at something green and the color looks weird. There are other eye issues with MS so it may be good to go to a neuro opthamologist.

good luck,

Alex
