Organization of the Forum

Okay, I've caught the poll fever.

As you have noticed the sticky pins holding the count for the Diagnosed and for Those still in Limboland has expired and they have move on down the page.  These threads can be tacked permanently to the top if we want.

How many of you like having the list of who is where up at the top of the front page?

How many of you, for whatever reason, don't like it?

How many don't care?

Also if any of you have specific wishes for things we could do differently, would you post and let us know?  In general the overall format is governed by MedHelp and must be the same on all forums.  But we can pass wishes on.

They are wonderful to have but I think they should be brought back at regular intervals too...

The Polls are great as they help people in limbo or those newly dx to see what others are experiencing and it makes you feel less alone.

I think they should be brought to the top at regular intervals but perhaps renewed once a year.  This will keep the list 'fresh' as people move from limbo to dx.

Just my opinion - for what it's worth.

Great work.

I usually check the posts on the side for activity and see if new members have joined to welcome them.

I do think that they might get less attention at the top for too long as I tend to scroll right by them to see what is new with everyone.

I would suspect that many people on the undx list find their way to the dx list sooner or later, and some have noted having their diagnoses yanked out from under them, so some will migrate the other way, too.  Consequently, the counts we have at present can't reflect our current distribution.  How about we either put these up as a new thread or as a new poll once a month or so, to give us a snapshot of where people are at that time?

I agree with maybe just bringing them up occasionally, that way other posts don't get buried so quickly and people think they are being ignored. :)

I like seeing them occasionally, but at times it just seems like too much on the top. :) Can we bring it up say the 1st of every month? Or is that too much to ask?

I wonder if they could be tacked to the top of the second page or something.  I'll ask.

I like the lists, but on the other hand could see where they take up precious space on the front page.

Maybe we could ask Medhelp for a variation of sorts, or alternative location for "push pins"

Maybe something that resembles a little cork board off to the left or right that we could just grab? Just thinking out loud

Thanks, Essie, another thought would be to bring them up for a week out of every month so we collect the people who are new or who are newly diagnosed.

I think moving these threads to the top occasionally serves the purpose of alerting newcomers about our informal 'registry.' I'd rather see what's tacked to the top kept at a minimum, especially considering that polls seem to stay there a good while too. That way it's easier to see what's new. This is hardly a life-and-death-er, however.
