Painful pin pricks

Hi All!!!
It has been a while for me since posting, boy has this forum grown!!!
I am "probable" MS, so not Dx'd just yet. I have a cold which it seem might already be on it's way
to my lungs.  No high fever, just 99 or so.
However, I am experiencing terrible pin pricks in my legs and arms.
It hurts at times so much that my arm or leg will jump! I can't seem to find anything that will
stop it or allow me to rest peacefully!
I was just wondering if this could be the start of another flare?
The last one was 2 weeks after a terrible case of bronchitis. That one involved numbness of my right arm.
The pin pricks were not as bad and did not last this long, nor did they start while I was sick. It was after.
Should this be the time to go to the doc? Or wait and see if something else worse happens?
I hate pin pricks, but it isn't killing me. Just a terrible bother.

Thank you so much for the replies.
I am planning on calling my reg. Doc. on
Monday.
I have been such a wuss. I haven't seen my neuro in over year.
I have been so busy with my job. I have also had to deal with fibroids and
cysts!!  So the gyno has taken so much out of me.
So doctor visits coordinating with time saved off has to be dealt with delicately.
I also have a honeymoon to prepare for!!!  Ekkgads!!!!
But again thank you all for helping me. There is such great wisdom here!!!
Love you all and I promise I am not far away and will post more often :)

ooops, posted too soon.

A low grade fever can cause a psuedo-exacerbation (or a pseudo-exasperation) by raising the body's core temp.  It only takes a fraction of a degree of higher temp to cause this.  Try to keep your temp under control with some ibuprofen or acetaminophen.

Hi, Kiddo, sorry to hear about the cold.  Yes, a fever can cause a pseudo-exacerbation or a false relapse.  But, as Heather so clearly describes it can also trigger a real relapse because the immune system is stimulated by the infecting virus.  There maight not be anything they can do, but you should be seen by your doctor for two reasons.

The first is to have the new symptoms documented in your health record.  The second is to see if you have anything treatable going on.

And, yes absolutely, you need to post with us more often!

HEY DEARHEART.....Welcome back.  Even with what you think is a low-grade fever, you obviously have an infection going on.  THIS is the time to get to the doctor to get on some antibiotics.

AND...any infection in someone with probable MS, will result in some changes in the MS.  It's almost a given.  After any infection, cold sore, etc., I can expect to have a whopper flair up within 2 to 3 weeks.  Especially if it is an upper respiratory infection.  I have no idea why this particular infection really pulls out the MS symptoms.  This is how my very first attack started 13 years ago.

So make a call to the doctor and see if you can get on some medication to nip this infection in the bud, before it DOES get down in your lungs.  That you don't need.

I wish you would start posting again.  Along with Rena and you, there are a few others that have been absent for awhile, we would love to see back with us.  Don't think we forget about you all for one single minute.

Feel better sweetheart and good to see you post, even if you are telling us that you are sick.

Big Forum Hugs,
Heather

Hi syndismez, good to see you!!  Don't stay away so long next time!!

Hopefully I'm remembering correctly, but Quix always says that any infection can bring on symptoms or a flare.

Having a fever will probably add to the pain.  I had a sinus infection in Oct and had muscle spasms in my thighs so bad I thought I would scream.  I had a low grade fever but didn't realize it until going to the GP.  I don't ever want to be sick or have a fever again, that's for sure.....hahaha

What's been happening on your process of getting a dx?  Have you gotten any closer to definite answers?  I hope you will have that dx soon.

As far as going to the dr, it probably wouldn't hurt and if he could knock out this infection quickly maybe it would slow down the flare.

Good luck, and I hope this goes away quickly and you get to feeling better.

I have a pseudo-exacerbation when I'm running a temp.  Last year I had the flu for five days, with a 99° fever.  Boy, that was terrible!  I felt like hammered death - everything hurt.  So I would wait until you get over your fever before you call up the doc.

However, about four days after the flu, I went into a small flare!  Be prepared for it.

I get pinpricks in my legs that cause them to jump up and down.  Fortunately nobody's asked me why my leg keeps jerking around yet.
