Possible MS with no lesions - Anyone have weakness on both sides of your body?

Hi all-

I am a 38yr old female, momma and wife.  I started having strange symptoms about 6yrs ago.  I have problems with fatigue, body and joint aches.  They told me years ago that I have Fibromyalgia and a slight scoliosis.

6yrs ago I started having muscle weakness in both legs.  I have fallen from it a few times. It started just for a few hours at a time, 6yrs later it can last a few weeks.  When I am feeling weak I can also feel exhausted and nauseous to the point I just don't want to get out of bed. I have dizzy spells a lot and find myself walking sideways at times (unbalanced).  I am also vitamin D deficient.

I have always had 20/20 vision and started having terrible headaches daily.  Got my eyes checked last year and ended up with glasses.  I feel like my vision is getting worse and when I am feeling extra tired I have blurred or double vision as well.

Today I woke up with the left side of my face hurting. It feels like the nerves are exposed,  this is the 3rd time in the last year that this has happened.  I have also had my left thumb go numb for about a week or 2 at a time.

I had multiple MRI's done last year and no lesions or so we think.  They said they found one from T3 to T7 and said I should be a paraplegic and then came back to say they think its just artifact.

My resting heart rate is 110 at times with chest pain and irregular heart beat...

Anyway - I have several test done.  My rheumatoid factor is elevated so they think I have an autoimmune disease and MS has come up multiple times.

Has anyone experienced muscle weakness on both sides of your body or is it only one?  Anyone have MS without the lesions that has a similar story?

Would love any input - just looking for answers.  Thank you!

Hi and welcome,

It's extremely rare to have MS and not have 'any' brain and or spinal cord lesions, MS literally means many scars....if your rheumatoid factor is elevated a positive test is an indicator of an autoimmune condition but not for MS, off the top of my head RF is associated with rheumatoid arthritis or Sjogren's syndrome, there maybe others though.

I'd be assuming it's an artifact too, a lesion from T3 to T7 would of done a lot of damage, i'd definitely recommend looking into your heart rate, chest pain and irregular heart beat, cardiac issues are known to cause a lot of what you've mentioned, maybe all of it would fit so it would definitely be worth getting this thoroughly investigated...

Hope that helps........JJ
