Prayers for my family

by Janette2836, Nov 13, 2008 07:39AM
Please pray for my family - my dad was diagnosed with lung cancer in March but the tumors had shrunk with chemo.  We found out on Tuesday that the tumors are starting to grow in both lungs again & now he is having headaches that will not go away!  Yesterday he had a scan of his brain to see if the cancer has spread there.  We are waiting on the results of that scan.  I am hoping it is just a sinus headache & NOT cancer.  Please also pray for my as I go in for shoulder surgery tomorrow.  Thanks forum family.   Janette

I am sorry to hear your father is again facing the challenge of cancer.  My stepdad who was as much a father to me as my dad, I love them both, had a long battle with COPD.  I know the strain it can put on a family and the hurt in their heart.  My Paw passed away in Sept 2003. The last six months he was home under hospice care.  My mom and I were his primary caregivers.  It was the longest and the shortest six months I have ever experienced.  However I am very grateful for them.  I had the opportunity to say all the things I should have said.  So I will keep you in my heart and my prayers.  I pray the cancer has not reached his brain and also that you come through your surgery as easy as possible.  When I am challenged I remember what the bible tells us: Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid...the Lord they God, he it is that doth go with thee, he well not fail thee or forsake thee.

Sending you peace and strength to help you through the coming days, Terry

Thanks ladies for the messages.  My dad will find out later today or tomorrow what the results of the scan of the brain were.  I will let you know when I know more.  Thanks for the prayers.

Hugs back your way!

My prayers are with you. My 83 year old father is dying of lung cancer. God has blessed us with 4 more months (so far) than he was supposed to have. I wouldn't mind if you'd send some prayers up for me and mine, too. Especially that he would find peace with God before he passes, and that God would be merciful and not let him suffer.

Maggie - SO very true - God is awesome!  There is lots of praising going on for sure!!!  It does make it easier going into today's surgery not having that sadness & unknown hanging in the air!  Thanks for the hugs & prayers.

WW7 - I will pray for you also!  The one good thing I have found about cancer for my family anyway is the extra time you have with the loved one who has the cancer!  When my mom had cancer 15 years ago & passed away - I had such a stength from God - it was amazing!  I pray for you to enjoy all the moments you have with your dad & the other family as well!   My mom accepted Christ into her heart before she died - how great is that!!!  I pray for your dad to find peace with God & that he will give him & the entire family strength needed during this time!  The suffering is hard to watch.  My mom only knew about the cancer for a month & a half & with the amount of pain she had (it spread to the bones) that was too long!

Thanks for your prayers & know I am praying for you as well!  Hugs ~ Janette

My aunt was dx'd with lung cancer last year, and underwent chemo and radiation, but the cancer remained and spread to her liver.  She is undergoing her second round of chemo now, and bless her heart, she is so sick.  But....she is remarkably positive, and I know it's because of her faith in God.  It hurts us all to watch her go through this, but one thing I can say for sure, is that it has brought us all closer together.  Family is so important to have, and we should let our family know every day how much they mean to us, because we never know what will happen from one day to the next.  I am so glad to hear the news of your father's brain scan!  I also pray for you today to make it through your surgery well, and when you get home, rejoice in the love that you and your family obviously have for each other!
Best Wishes,
Tiffany
