Provigil and guided meditation?

First I want to tell everybody that I am loving the provigil. I don't seem to be having any side effects and I feel a huge difference on the days I have forgotten to take it. I'm on a 200 mg dose, I haven't looked yet to see if that's average or what. I have been taking it for about three weeks.

Secondly I wanted to share that I have always had problems falling asleep and then staying asleep. This is even worse on shot nights, no clue why. I have stopped taking any drug to help with this because I don't like how they make me feel and I'm on too many meds anyway. So I tried some other things.

My newest favorite is a guided hypnosis type thing. I'm not sure I'm calling it by the right name. But I plug in my little earphones and listen to the guys voice telling me to stand on the hill and release the blue balloon I'm holding that says stress and worry.

I watch it float into the blue sky until I can no longer see it. Then I walk down the hill and get in my big comfy bed under the palm trees and I'm out. Like a light. Every time. It's amazing. Now there's a little more detail to it than that and several different scenarios but my point is that I've never slept so well in my life with so little effort.

May not be for everyone but I am awed and won't give it up now.
Last bit of news is that I got scheduled for my drug pump implant at the end of October, fingers crossed that it helps.

I just started seeing a new Dr. since my last one seemed pretty useless. MRI on Friday and another Dr. apt. the following Friday so see where I get with this. I don't care what she says is wrong she gotta do something to fix this fatigue. It's out of control :( Many things are out of control but this fatigue is a real kicker shesh :)

I wish I could share them with you trip, I know my insurance is paying a fortune for them and they are hard for a lot of people to get.
If my insurance turned me down for these I was going to try ritalin or adderall, its worked for some people they say.

Ok you guys are all making me jealous with your "stay awake" pills LOL That has to be the hardest thing to deal with for me. I am not actually sleeping nearly as much as I had but my body and my whole self is just tired and wants to lay down constantly. I do a few dishes and I have to lay down, fold some wash and I have to lay down... I mean really what the heck lol I can't get anything done because I'm to busy laying down all the time! It drives me nuts :)

I'm just happy to see there is something out there that works!!!

I got one of those phones that's smarter than I am, it tells me when to take meds, can track my injections, refill reminders....its been handy

Let me know if you try the meditation and how it goes. I'm interested in the different scenarios and speakers and would love to hear if you find a good one.

I love the provigil too.  You just reminded me that I have to go to the pharmacy today to get it refilled.  Thanks for the unintended reminder.  Did they start you on 100mg or higher?  Like you mentioned, I notice the difference when I forget to take it, which usually happens on the weekends.

I don't have the side effects either, but be sure you are taking it as early in the morning as you can. I take mine with my other meds as soon as I wake up.

The guided meditation sounds amazing.  I have heard very good things about it and keep saying I'm going to try it for myself.  Perhaps now is that time.  Thanks for sharing your story.

Wow - this sounds super cool!

I'm glad it's working for you. Up during the day, and ability to sleep at night makes MSers much happier people!

Thanks for telling us about this, Ms!

Thanks for telling me about your sister, I'm very nervous about the whole procedure but trying to keep my hopes in check. My pump will be for hydromorphine initially with the option to mix baclofen in later. It's always good to hear someone doing better.

I started with the half pill of provigil and moved up to a full per doctors orders. I have been scared to take one after 9 am because of the sleeping issue, I even have a special early alarm to take the medicine now at 630.

I love Provigil, but my insurance company won't improve.  I'm having to go through the appeals process.  I was on it for three years when suddenly they didn't want to approve it.  I have the 200 mg pills and will occasionally take the entire pill when I'm especially fatigued, but generally I split them.  I usually had no trouble taking one in the morning and one before noon and felt really good that way, until I started running out and tried to save them.  If I took them after noon, though, I couldn't sleep.

My sister just had her Baclofen pump placed in a few months ago.  It has really helped her.  I have never seen her standing in the last three years and saw her doing that the last time I saw her.  She also seems way more chipper than I've seen, ever.  I hope that your drug pump implant works out for you as well.
