Most MS Specialists are double board certified. All the Neurologists I have seen are double board certified in Neurology and Psychiatry (understanding how the brain works, not looking at psychiatric disorders). I look up all my Specialists before going to see what papers they have written, etc.

Sumanadevii, would you care to share what it is you are trying to get at?
There are a lot of medical specialties that don't require a special board certification - one of the most dangerous ones is plastic surgery, where just about any MD can perform liposuction, breast surgery, and other body altering surgeries.
This is why we urge everyone to find a MSologist - a neurologist who specializes in MS and encourage them to find one who is part of the MS consortium, demonstating their commitment to this very specialized work.

Last I knew, in the US, there is no requirement to be board certified to claim you are a specialist, although the the insurance companies are bit pickier. This is one of the problems with non-board certified cosmetic surgeons and botched facelifts.
