Question about PMS

Hi ladies!

Do any of you experience worse MS type symptoms just prior to your monthly period starting?  I ask because the past 6 months or so I have noticed that I am getting extremely dizzy a day or 2 before.  I also am extremely tired.  I know this can be attributed to your cycle, but I feel it is getting so much worse with each month.

Thanks for any input!

When I was still getting my period, I asked my neuro's assistant about it and she said MS symptoms definitely get worse during PMS.

Dear ladies,

If you have PMS, you may wish to consider an alternative than taking birth control pill.

So, here is my story.

I moved to New York city with my husband since Oct last year.
The stress of being in the new city and moving have caused me serial health problems, one of these is
PMS.

I am at my 30s this year. In the past, I have had very little discomfort before the period. This time, it was real. Below is a description of my symptoms.

Before the menstrual cycle( PMS)
·       Mood swings, sudden tears
·       Loss of libido
·       Crashing fatigue
              Difficulty concentrating, disorientation, mental confusion
·      Breast tenderness

Occasionally
·       Depression
·       Electric shock sensation under the skin and in the head

Everyday
·      Trouble sleeping through the night (without night sweats) wake up 1-2 times and go to bathroom
·      Hair loss
·      Short Breath

I went to the GY and was informed to take birth control pill. I struggled for a while and decided not to  take it as the doctor advised.
During my visit back to Shanghai in May. ( I am a Chinese lady) I went to see a Chinese doctor.
He is referred by a friend of mine so I trusted him.
I started taking Chinese medicine prescribed by him, NOT those herbal supplement you find in the store but, those herbs which you have to get it only in Chinese stores, cook it and drink its liquid 2-3 times a day.
I have now taken it for 2 months.

The truth is,
My period is on time.
PMS disappeared completed. I already got 2  periods without experiencing all the symptoms I had before.

So, if you do not like birth control pill, as I understand, it is made from chemical and it does not heal you. I would advise you to see a Chinese doctor and ask him/her to prescribe you Chinese medicine.
Mind you the taste is very bitter but the benefits are so incredible.

I am so glad to share with you that you have one more choice to make to solve your PMS by taking herbs and it really works.
The good news is, some Chinese stores in China town manhattan has most herbals available.

I wish you all good health.

Yes, yes,yes.

At the next opportunity I will be disscussing this with my Dr. I have alway run a slight temperature the day before and the first day. It is something that never bothered me. But since this neuro stuff began it renders me useless fofr 2 days every month.

I posted about it on here a while ago. I don't get a heavy period it just the raised temperature that makes every thing flair up.

I will dicuss this with my consultant when I get the chance but my last appointment was with a registar and to be honest I didn't have the nerve to discuss it with a complete stranger.

I do find that my fatigue is 100 times worse during that time of the month. The pain gets a bit worse too but the fatigue is out of control. I had an endometrial ablation done a few years ago so my periods are very light and only a couple of days long so that helps me too.

Maybe talk to your doctor about the estrogen therapy to see if that helps at all.

Good Luck
Paula

Thanks.  I am not diagnosed with anything yet, but have found the past few cycles that I have had some of the symptoms that prompted me to see a neuro in the first place.  Especially the dizziness and fatigue.

Oh, definitely!  I've been on birth control for fifteen years.  I had to stop taking it last month because of a blood clot.  This last period was really awful.  Lots of dizziness, weak legs, some spinal myoclonus coming back... ick.  I think birth control pills make your periods less extreme, which also helps with MS symptoms.  Now that I can't take the pill, I don't know what I'm going to do.

I hear that doses of estrogen make MS patients feel better - help with relapses, and slow down progression.
