Question about initial MS symptoms

Merry Christmas everyone!  I'm curious if anyone has ever heard of MS symptoms starting out like a tickle in the chest or throat...the kind of tickle that makes you have to cough a bit, clear your throat, and have hoarseness when you talk?  Thanks!

Lots of fun.  I'll be thinking about you.  I have an MRI and a lumber puncture scheduled this week myself.  Be sure you lie flat, and drink lots of fluids.  I've had an LP before, there not as bad as they seem like they will be.

It could be too small I guess...I'm not sure either.  I'm going in Jan. 5th for a cervical MRI, then a possible spinal tap depending how my cervical looks.  Fun stuff

It sure seems like it would, do you think maybe it could be too small to pick up?  Got me, I have no idea.- Tammy

Thank you for getting back to me.  I mentioned to my neuro that I've been having throat issues, but I didn't mention specifically about the tickle or cough.  Looking back on it though I believe all of my symptoms starting with a tickle in my throat/chest with a hoarse voice.  I still have this tickle which is worse when I'm feeling like crap.  My voice also goes hoarse quite often.  If there was an issue with the 9th cranial would it show up on a brain MRI? or cervical?

I have never heard of it, but I am still learning.  But I looked it up just now:  there is something called glossopharyngeal neuralgia, that seemed to be a problem associated with the 9th cranial nerve.  It describes terrible pain in the tongue and mouth.

Have you asked a doctor about this tickle/cough?  A lot of us have swallowing/choking problems.  Some also have trouble speaking.  I've also heard that this disease can cause almost any symptom, as everything is connected to the CNS.

When I am in a flare, and when I am physicially exhausted my voice gets hoarse, but I don't have the exact symptoms you describe.  I hope you have better luck getting answers.
