Question for Quix or anyone

Can anyone help me out at all, I have had 3 mri's done with / without contrast of brain and whole spine no lesions, no changes, and a negative L.P. , bloods are all fine, normal examination with neuro, when he made me walk, touch nose, etc, can I forget about ms now or can someone still have all neg and clear tests and have it. My neuro has told me 2 different things, as well and being told all different things of other drs. I would really like your opinions............ Thanks

Hope you are feeling better by now.

Flooding all over the place. Where are you?  In Australia or US?

Drink coffee and stay lying flat if you can't get to a medical centre.

Thyroid problems (hypo or hyper) can really throw your body out of wack. They need to test that properly but doing a full thryoid pannel, not just TSH.  Thyroid problems can cause all sorts of problems some of which can mimick MS symptoms. I am an example.

My doctors still haven't worked out if my symptoms are due to hypothyroid, other endocrine, MS, or something else....

Get that looked at first.  Do let us know how you're doing.

Best wishes

I am also very confused about the H.E I even rung my endocronologist who dx me in 2004 with multi nodular goitre and he has never heard of it, but also in 2004 my thyroid antibodies were high he said. My thyroid is fine, my symptons fit hashimotos thyroiditus or whatever it is called but I thought the thyroid had to be underactive also to have it.
My endo told me my thyroid would eventually become over or under and that is why in 2004 he told me to get thyroid tested every 12 months, also a ultrasound every 12 months to make sure nono of the nodules grew. I am concerned still as my neuro told before my  L.P. that its common to have clear mri's and negative L.P. and still have ms?
I am unable to go get patch for headaches,  cannont get to hospital now as roads are closed due to the rain we have had here, lady died last night on the roads, her car washed away in the water. I am still waiting for neuro to call me, I will ask him about thyroid medication to help lower antibodies maybe.

I remain confused about the Encephalitis.  This is an extraordinarily rare conditon - less than 100 ever diagnosed ever anywhere - from my reading.  If soemthing is that rare - and you don't have the correct symptoms of it, I would certainly want to know how certain it is and with another Neuro.

Hashimotos thyroiditis is the autoimmune attack on the thyroid.  The usual result is low thyroid, but it can be anything from hyper (in the beginning) to normal to low, I believe.

For now, work on getting the blood patch.

Thanks for your advice again, much appreciated, rung my hospital because I am in a small mining town, they don't have the goods there to help. I have actually been told I have hashimtots enc........... I think with hashimotos thyroid don't I have to have an underactive thyroid? The neuro also give me steroids in hospital, nothing to do with thyroid so I am really confused, maybe I should try to look into a neuro that specializes in thyroid. A nurse come to ask me what symptons I have in hospital as she also has hashimotos, she gets burning, tingling in heat also, but her thyroid is underactive.
I am still waiting for the neuro to call me my L.P. was last friday so hopefully he will take the time before the weeks over and I can ask him what now. I just want the pain to go away. Thanks again will let you know how I get on

First you need a blood patch to take care of the spinal headache.  This needs to be done now, and get you out of agony.  Meanwhile stay down.

We know you have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis.  I am still concerned that they are not checking all the right thyroid hormones and markers to see if your parasthesias are being caused by the thyroid.  It is a huge mimic of MS.  With all of the negative tests you have had, your chances of having MS are extremely small - Extremely small.  But, if your symptoms continue you should have frequent checks on your thyroid and good thorough neurological exams.  If something changes and they are sure the thyroid is not out of whack, then repeat MRIs are still in order.

MS can be diagnosed by documenting recurrent clear relapses and changing neurological deficits.  I am afraid, if they have done a complete work up for mimics that you are still in a "Wait and See" mode.

A possibility is to have your MRIs read by a different Neuroradiologist.  A radiology "second opinion."  A few people here have had that make all the difference.

Hope this helps.  Get the blood patch!  Go to the ER if necessary.  You are in agony and yo've given it four days.  That is a heroic attempt at seeing if it will relsove itself.

Yes I currently have a massive headache, presumable from the L.P. although it was done last friday and I got the headache on Monday and still have it, my whole neck hurts, and I can't even cough for the pain, even to lift my head off the pillow or turn head in bed is pure agony, and today I'm burning in my back and arms. I'm so sick and tired of not feeling well, I was want to feel normal again..........

It's a good thing that all of your MRI's and testing came back normal, but that sure doesn't make you feel any better, when you know that something is wrong, does it?

Sometimes this has to be a wait and see game.  I truly believe until you have some test or physical exam that comes back abnormal, that you have had the proper testing.  If you are still having symptoms that are troublesome, talk to your doctor aboout this, so he can offer you some help.

This may be one of those times, where you literally have to sit back and wait.  Hard as that is to hear.  While you are waiting, we will be right there with you, supporting you and offering you comfort.

Big ((((HUGS)))))
