Quix...One more question please...

Yeah, It's me again...you tired of me yet?

I was just wondering, regarding the side effects of the Tegretol and Neurontin, I have been on the dosage of  1200mg/day of Tegretol and 1600mg/day of Neurontin I figure since about November of last year.

I started having muscle spasms in my legs in September.

I had my bout of vertical double vision in November and it lasted for 10 days...had it once or twice since but nothing like what I had then.

I have been having trouble with my speech in varying degrees since November and still have it today.

My eyesight deterioration has been apparent since last February.  I went to my Opthamologist in Feb. and Nov. 2007 and he has stated that after a full examination of my eyes, the trouble I am having with blurred and double vision has nothing to do with my eyes.  They have not changed in two years and he feels that the trouble I am having is due to MS.  I asked him to send a letter stating same to my neurologist and he complied.  My neurologist stated that he did not agree with the Opthamologist and left it at that.

I did at one time ask the old neuro, "why have you not done any testing for the level of Tegretol in my blood?"  He responded with," the only thing you need to really worry about is Stevens-Johnson syndrome and I have only seen one or two cases of that in my career so don't worry about it."

Now this boneheaded neuro is apparently responsible for the possible over-medicating of me, his patient and he wasn't worried because it wasn't Stevens-Johnson syndrome!  I have been out of work for 1 year due to this over-medication, I lost a very good job, I have been under constant worry about whether this all was a flare up of my MS!  I paid $1150.00 for an MRI of my spine and pelvis because he 'thought (questionable)' I may have a tumor on my spine and that is what was causing my muscle spasms in my legs?   Do you not think that he was negligible in my care?  I tried to tell him about my symptoms, the nerve pain, the problem with my speech, the problem with my eyesight (he told me not to read when I am tired) but he always disregarded anything I would say and suggest increasing my meds!  I am feeling a little like a Volcano about ready to erupt right now...it is all coming together and if in fact, which it may very well be, that my diagnosis is over-medication by my physician...just what the he** does one do next?  And just for curiousity sake...I don't suppose that Tegretol could cause any permanent pulmonary problems...just wondering since I just happen to be having a problem with my right lung suddenly 6 months after quitting smoking?

I think I probably have too much time on my hands but I sure would like your ideas on this Quix!

Thanks so much!

Rena

Any ideas?
