Rash from Tysabri or bug bites?

I have been taking Tysabri for about 10 years now.  After my treatment yesterday, we stopped at a house we own and worked in the yard about 10-15 minutes.  After taking my shirt off when we got home, my husband told me to go look in the mirror at my back.  They looked like bug bites, yet we've worked in that yard for about a week and I have not been bothered.  I then began to wonder...did this happen because of my treatment....or are they just bug bites of some sort?

If anyone that's had the rash before could explain it to me in more detail, I'd very much appreciate it.  It's mainly on my back with just a few on my arms.  I had a shirt on while in the yard, so I would think bug bites'd be mainly on my ARMS and just a few on my back...not the opposite.  Please excuse me if I sound like a kook!!!!!!!!LOL  Thanks for any info or pictures of this rash.  THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!

Hi I have been on Tysabri for almost 13 years (on the clinical drug trial) I had my infusion on Monday and on Tuesday night I got itchy like I had been bitten on both inner thighs and my buttocks just on the undies line they swelled so huge like 5 to 6 inch round, raised, extremely itchy welts. I went to the doctor on Thursday and she put me on 2 x 25mg of prednisolone daily for 5 days and I have to go back. I think maybe I should tell my nuerologist. I didn't think at the time that it could be a reaction to the Tysabri. But I guess being one of the original 100 people in the world on the drug it is possible. We don't really know the long term side effects yet.

I've only had 3 infusions so far (4th tomorrow) and I get a rash on my lower back each time. After the first one, we went camping and I thought something had bitten me or I got scraped tubing in the river.  It happened with the last two as well though so I'm guessingit's the Tysabri.  Mine is little bumps almost like a blistered sunburn without the burn or chicken pox and it itches like crazy. Sounds like the one on daisygirl's stomach.

My neuro also told me to watch for mood changes that are worse than the normal everyday stuff.

After taking Tysabri for 10 years you know so much more than me but I have recently been doing a lot of Tyasbri research because I am highly considering starting it!

The research states that hives, itching and rashes are common allergic reactions to this drug.
I agree with Daisy that it is unusual for new symptoms to appear after 10 years but it is not uncommon for allergic reactions to lay dormant until enough of the allergen is introduced to the body. In other words it is possible that you have taken Tysabri so long that the allergy took hold.

This is just a thought because I have no medical training at all an am really just learning about Tysabri  but have not yet tried it.

I would report this to your doctor since it is  real change.

Best of luck,
Deb

Thanks for answering back!!!  I couldn't find where my question was, and an email was sent to me to ask a question, so it's here again!!!  I am sooo computer illiterate!!!!!!  :-)

I am at the highest risk for developing PML, so I don't want to ignore them, but don't want to go see the dr cause I have bug bites!!!!!LOLOL    My back sounds like the ones you had on your chest.  Did the dr do anything for you??

I know it's crazy that after 10 years I can still have new symptoms showing up from the Tysabri, but I know it is true. It took a bit to figure out what SOB was, but I figured it out!!!!!LOL    Thank you again!  Sorry for pretty much double posting!

I only received 2 tysabri infusions, I got a rash on my stomach, neck and itching. My rash looked like small round red dots on my stomach, slightly raised, the ones on my neck and chest we larger, more like a mosquito bite.
I do however, think it would be unusual to have a reaction after 10 years! but nothing is impossible. If the palms of your hands begin to itch or you have any SOB or rapid heart rate.....seek medical attention.
Hope everything is okay.
