Recurrent meningitis

Can you have recurrent aseptic meningitis with MS as a symptom or part of an exacerbation?

I would say no and here is why.  Aseptic meningitis is defined as an irritation of the meninges (membranes that surround the brain) that is not caused by a culterably organism, like a bacteria, tb, syphillis, or fungus.  Many viruses cause aseptic meningitis.  Other things, like some medications, or tumors, or leaking blood can cause the irritation also.

MS attacks the deeper central nervous system - not the outside lining.  When lesions are seen on the meninges it points waayy, away from MS to an viral infection, Lyme, NeuroSarcoid, etc.

I'm not saying that a person with MS can't get aseptic meningitis, but it would be a separate thing, not related to the MS.
