Results from Lumbar MRI

Results for my Lumbar MRI have come back......
The MRI shows multiply cyst in the spine (one which is fairly large).  Not sure what that means (have not talked to the doctor just the nurse) but he has set me up with a neurosurgeon for evaluation.  I had the MRI on Thursday @ 8:00am and the nurse called me at 10:30am.  They never get back to me that fast so it has me worried.  Nurse said it was not an emergency or anything.  I requested a doc from Hershey Medical Center which is usually hard to get into.  I Don't trust our local hospital. My appointment is on the 29th of this month.  That was a shocker is usually takes a months to get appointments at this hospital.  Has anyone else had issues with cysts?  To my understanding this is probably not related to my MS. Thanks for any advise that you may have!

My doctor wanted me to do another round but I want to wait and see how things go. If it gets much worse I will most likely call back and have the Dr. set it up.

The steroids make it hard to sleep (which I can handle) but the way it makes my teeth feel is what holds me back. My teeth have always been very sensitive an the steroids make it million times worse.

Right now I just feel like all I am doing is filling my body with drug after drug.  LOL  Does that feeling ever get better?  I guess like most things it will become routine.

Thank you everyone for all your responses.  This forum is partially how I make it through my days!  My family is great, but only someone else with MS can fully understand what your body is going through.

It might take longer to get over the ON with out the steroids. I know they are rough. ON is the only reason I would do steroids.

So I went to see a Neurosurgeon for what they call Tarlov Cysts.  He does not recommend any thing be done at this time.  There are 3 cysts in the lumbar part of my spine and one is pretty large but not effecting any nerves at this time.  Which is good!  LOL  Not related at all to the MS which is good. I will take any good news I can get.  I have never been so excited about leaving a doctors office before.  Was so relieved.....  Unfortunately though is seems that my optic neuritis is hanging out.  Right know it just gets blurry more as the days go on.  But has not black out yet.  And I decided that I am going to wait it out and not do the IV steroids this time.  To short of time from the last time I did them.  Hoping it will go away on its own and not get to much worse.  The  steroids mess with my system to much.  Not a lot of pain so just going to go with it and hope for the best.

A friend of mine was recently diagnosed with a cyst on her thoracic spine. She had to undergo a specific PT and massage therapy routine but surgery was only a last option for her so I am afraid that I don't have anything for you because they are hopeful that they can minimize any future damage from the cyst.

I am glad you don't have to wait too long to have it seen to and that you are finally getting some answers. Hopefully if there is anything else going on your medical team will be on it asap to get you more answers.

Also, nothing in the lumbar region involves MS, since the spinal cord stops at the bottom of the thoracic spine. So you may have 2 things happening. :-(

Cysts would not be MS. Plus Neuro Surgeons are not for MS. Most times they can't explain test results the doctor has to.
