Saw Neuro Today

Hi, All,
I saw my neuro for a three month checkup.  For the past two weeks, I've had more urinary surprises, more L'Hermittes,  and just really weak.  Climbing a flight of stairs feels like I've run a marathon. Bike riding is now without hills, and my arms and legs shake in Yoga if I hold my poses for more than 1 - 2 breaths.  An balance poses? Fuhgeddaboudit.  Anyway, I still have bilateral Babinskis, hyper reflexia, and now, I've flunked heel - toe and Romberg's.  My lumbar puncture is next Thursday. Thanks all of you who described your LPs,  I'm not too scared (this guy promises to be painless - I told him I'd hold him to it!).

More Later,

Hi, Ess, Bio, Lu, and Wobbly,

Yes, he's waiting for the positive LP results before he puts me on a DMD.  I have the D in T (2005 and now, for the past 13 months), and possible D in S.(Lesions that don't light up w/ Gd, positive Neuro exam). Sigh...

You'll be fine with the LP. I've had several now, and there's been no problem.

You do have enough without the LP, though.

My arms and legs shake if I try to extend them and hold the pose, too. It's kind of weird.

Hi GG,
I agree with Ess about not needing the LP but if it keeps your neuro happy, so be it! :-)

My LP was done in the office, no recuperation  time afterwards, and absolutely no problems.  I wrote about the start to finish process in my journal for areference if you are interested.

Hang in there - this all takes patience to get to the dx.

my best,
Lulu

Thanks for your update. Is your neuro waiting for the results of the LP before giving you a diagnosis? That really isn't necessary.

You have classic symptoms, and many here can relate. I sure can, about the yoga and balance. I sort of flunked out of yoga a couple of months ago. My arms and legs shook too, and I had to hold onto the back of a chair half the time. PT did help the balance quite a bit, so you may want to look into that. I even got better at the tandem gait (heel to toe drunk driver test). At least I could tandem 'stand still' after quite a few PT sessions.

Good luck on your LP. Mine was truly the merest nothing, done in a hospital under flouroscopy. After a mandatory wait, I drove myself home and resumed my life. Yours can be that way too.
