Seizures and MS?

It appears that I had a seizure last night. I had been out all day shopping around and feeling pretty good. I went out for a friends birthday and I did have a few drinks. I got home and slept for about 3 hours then woke up feeling nauseous. I walked in the bathroom and the next thing I remember is hearing my boyfriend's voice telling me to calm down, it's okay.
From everything he described, it sounds like a seizure. I didn't go to the ER but I plan to be at my neuro's office first thing Monday morning.
I am only one year into this diagnosis. Is this something that happens with MS patients? Could it have been a result of the alcohol intake?
I am so scared right now.

Sometimes I'll find symptoms are worse when I've overdone it.  Alcohol may have been a factor, or you just may have worn yourself out.  Definitely take it easy and rest up, and go see your neuro!  Good luck - J

Rena's covered the basics, since she has her own experience with seizures.  They are known to be one of the lesser occurring symptoms of MS, but they do happen.

I hope the neuro can see you soon to review this episode.

This is a tough one due to the alcohol intake factor.

I presented with seizures that I had while sleeping which was rather odd.  Seizures are not as strange when related to MS as one may think.  They are known to happen for sure.

How are you feeling today?  Are you sore all over...sort of like you ran a marathon?  Do you know if you were posturing..legs and arms out stiff and toes pointed down?  Did you feel absolutely more exhausted than you ever have in your life and all you wanted to do was sleep for hours?  Do you have any broken blood vessels in the whites of your eyes or on your neck?  These were the tell tale signs for me.  I could hardly walk the next day because the muscles in my legs and arm were all pulled from a wicked work out.  This is only one type of seizure though so don't minimize your symptoms honey...you need to check this out.

Personally, I think you are going to have to see your Neuro about this for sure.  Please don't be scared ok...there are things that can control these problems but I would advise you not to drive until you see your doctor and be sure to ask him about driving.  Just take it easy today, rest and keep your activity to a minimum.  You neuro is going to ask how much you had to drink and you have to be honest with him.  I was drinking back in the time I was having seizures but not on the same day.  In other words, alcohol wasn't the cause for me.

Please let us know how you make out tonight and stay away from the alcohol tonight completely ok.  You are going to be fine but you need to be pro-active about this.  If you need any more support or have other questions, please feel free to message me ok?  Take care and I hope you start to feel better soon!

Hugs,
Rena
