Shaky and weak arms and legs

For those who do not know my situation, I am still undiagnosed and in limbo land and I ask a lot of questions.

My arms and legs today are weak, shaky and fatiqued.  I carried a large stack of papers, not heavy at all to the filing cabinet and now my arms are shaking like I carried a bowling ball around for an hour.
This happened before when I held my best friends baby.  My arms shook so bad.
Right now I have them propped on the desk so I am able to type and continue to work.

Am I going crazy?

Cindy

Have your vitamin d level checked. Also watch the gluten in your diet it causes horrid side effects. Had all this for over a year and a half and I changed my diet recently and feel so so so so much BETTER. I still twitch all over and get shaky every once in awhile but nothing like before. I know what your talking about feeling tired all the time and muscles feel weak, tired, and heavy went through this too. I wish you all the luck.                                                      p.s. look up side effects of gluten.

Ok has anybody eye ever twitched all freaking day?  It is twitching so fast.  So is the side of my face and the top of my lip.
What in the world is going on?  I am not stressed at all today.
Well not anymore stressed than normal.  I feel very laid back and relaxed.

MS fatigue is horrid, really horrid and the only thing to do for it is rest and allow recovery.

Do take care

I too think you might be talking 2 different things, though it could be just how your describing it.

The activity weakness could be fatigue, core temp can go up just from the repeditive movements and physical effort. A drop in blood sugars can also cause weakness and feeling shaky with out visible signs of a tremor, with or without activity though activity will deplete glucose stores quicker. Anemia fit this too, as does other deficient vitimin levels.

I know when my blood sugars are dropping and stuffing my face with high sugar foods will bring them back up and i get a boost of much needed energy. The difference i suppose is when gravety is pulling me down and no amount of glucose makes a difference, i'm lucky if i get to a chair, often the floor is calling me home. My blood sugars are high yet the energy i have is lucky to hold me upright, i melt away and only sleep and rest seem to make any difference, though more often than not, it doesnt.

You could also be describing muscle weakness, use of a muscle group even with miniscule weight so out of proportion, is leaving you with the feeling of having carried the equivelant of 20+ kilo weights which would logically make your arms feel heavy and weak from the strain of carrying such weights. Lots of things could be the cause, even everything i've already mentioned.

My muscles are still very much defined, you can see the healthy bulge though they are not as strong as they appear, they let me down all the time. Sheesh i've pulled muscles just putting the lid on the blender, makes no sense at all. Signals are not working right, false signals that cant be relied upon, i can just as easily drop a 250g weight like it was 25kg, i'm just not sure my muscles can tell the difference anymore, wonky signals that do get worse with fatigue.

For me light plays a part in this too, bright light fatigues me, the other night i discovered intermitent light and dark (outside light when someone walked in front of it turning light to dark) was enough to throw everything out of wack.

Just food for thought!

Cheers.........JJ

PS i've forgotten what it feels like to be a woman, i'm more like a missfiring robot :-)

Regarding putting on the make up, thank goodness my right arm is not effected yet.  I am such a cosmetics junkie and love doing make up, it will suck when I can not.
I do what I call sexy photos for my friends.  I do their hair and make-up and get them to wear something sexy, alittle revealing but not too much.  Then I take their photos for them to give to their husbands or boyfriends.
I really need to start charging for it, but I enjoy making people feel beautiful.  Women need that.  They get so caught up in being moms and wives that they forget first they are women.

Ok here is a perfect example and it is happening to me right now.
I went to the store, I had to small bags that couldnt have weighed no more than 5 pounds together.  I carried it from the store to my car (along with my purse) and now my arm feels like it weighs 500 pounds and useless.

It is crazy!

At night I am fatigued or just plain wore out, but during the day I cannot carry anything without feeling I guess a different fatigue in my arms.  Maybe it is not called fatigued, I am not sure.

It just reminds me of what it feels like after I used to do yard work.  When I would trim the bushes and later on they are shaky and feel heavy.
You can't see the shakiness, I just feel it.
Now I cannot hold a baby without it happening.  It is depressing.

Limbo land stinks!

I think we're talking about 2 different things here. The fatigue of MS is hugely powerful, and most of us experience it. It's probably the most debilitating aspect of MS.

The shakiness, though, is something else. I'm not sure about the causes of this if it comes and goes under certain circumstances but not others. For me, stretching my arms with weight causes really bad trembling. For instance, if I carry full paint buckets, my arms really wobble, and even for a minute or two after putting them down. This never happened before the past couple of years.

I'm not sure from Lulu's comments whether or not her neuro would call this muscle weakness.

Oh my goodness, that is exactly what I needed to read.

When I get home everyday from work I have to force myself to cook dinner or even clean.
Yesterday, I had to make myself vacuum and dust.  After that I was on the couch, so tired.
I was so dizzy afterwards, I swear if I looked in a mirror my eyeballs were floating around in my head.  Well that is what it felt like anyway.

Thank you Supo!

Hi

What you are describing sounds like MS muscle fatigue:

Hey ladies,
Thank you for your replies.
What stinks is I do not have to do anything much at all like carry a stack of papers that probably weights 5 pounds for less than a minute and my left arm feels like I have lifted weights.
Again thank you!

I just talked to my neuro about this shaking at my last appt.  I get it in my left arm - he asked is was during exertion.  I told him it was in exercise class - I would use the barbell as a pole to balance myself when doing squats.  My arm shakes like crazy.

He then explained that exertion doesn't have to mean working it hard, it just means doing something different with that arm.

I don't know if that relates to your situation, but I do want you to understand you are not crazy.

be well,
Lulu

Hi Cindy
I have been trying to send you a note but for some reason it won't go through - if you get it dozen times you'll know I was being impatient with the "enter" key!

Anyway, that weak shaky feeling you mention, yes I have had that, same as Jen, if I overdo it.

Take  care

Since there's no diagnosis, it's difficult to say what has caused the fatigue in your limbs.  This makes being in limbo especially hard, as you don't know what's wrong.

Speaking personally, I have weak arms and legs, especially after overdoing it, or getting out in the heat.  Sometimes it feels like they won't be able to hold me up.
