Sick ----- Quix maybe?

I take CellCept ( 2000m ) an Immuno suppressant every day for my MS.

For about a week now I have been sick with some kind of bug or at least I think I have been, Scratchy throat, either running or stuffy nose ( left side),  Stuffy left ear, Itching left ear drum, Headaches. These have  all been coming and going every day along with a temp that just before taking my CellCept will be around 99.2 - 99.6. After taking my medication my temp drops to my normal 96.6 - 97.4 temp range. So I guess that means the CellCept is suppressing my immune system? LOL.

I do have an appointment with my PC this Thursday and plan to bring this up

But I am wondering if I should stop the CellCept in the mean time so that my Immune system can work on killing off what ever infection I have going on?

I don't know about for MS, but for chemo or after my stem cell transplant A fever here over 37.4C.  If you are on in immune suppressants and you have a fever you are supposed to go to the ER because your body can not fight off infections and can become septic. It ***** but for every little thing you need to go get antibiotics. I have an ear infection issue. have been at the er numerous times! Here they use steroids for immune suppressants (well for my stem cell anyway)  Good luck!

Oh I wish I could just go see my PCP or even call her. Things just don't work that way at the VA. You only get to see your PCP at regular scheduled appointments. Otherwise you have to see either a LPN or ER doctor as your only options.

My understanding is that the regular DMD like yours only modify part of the immune system. As such your immune system can fight normal infections. That is probably why your Neuro gets upset.

My CellCept is normally for transplant patients and suppresses all of your immune system. One of the warnings on the drug is to avoid people that are sick. :)

During the day today I have come to the conclusion that I probably have a sinus infection ( I have gotten them quite a lot in the past) due to nose, ear, and headache symptom.

Tough question - maybe you should ask the PCP about it tomorrow.  My neuro reacts with horror whenever I tell her I've stopped taking the Betaseron for various health reasons (blood clot, appendectomy, etc.)  I always assume it'll get in the way of whatever healing processes I have going on, so I take a break while I heal up.
