Slow Heart Beat

Hey guys, am back again, not with a diagnosis but with a new symptom. Today at the gym, i strted feeling light headed and short of breath. This worsened until i was on the brink of collapse. My heart rate as it turned out was only 30 bpm!! And my blood pressure was really low. After being rushed to hospital, everything went back to normal except a little fatigue in my cheeks and a light headache. Has anyone with ms have this low heart rate and blood pressure episode happen to them? This is the second time ever i've become bradycardic (slow heart rate).

if that is a suspected MS, you would also have problems with your vision example feeling of seeing duplicate words or any of that stuff.. also you will feel generalized weakness and have problems with your bowel and bladder you will also feel loss of balance and have some emotional problems (cognitive).. so if you dont feel some of the mentioned then maybe it's not MS.. take care..

It could be:
- panic attack
- heart arrhythmia
- vagovagal reflex
- reflex bradycardia including oculocardiac reflex
- reaction to some medication

True. I didn't mean to imply that your episode was within the range of normal. It must have been very frightening. Hope the doctors figure out what caused it, and/or that you don't ever have a repeat of it!

All the more reason not to leave the ER, just because the wait was long!

Well am sure it doesn't lower enough that he becomes border line conscious. I couldn't even sit up and my heart rate was bout 30 bpm.

I am not sure about heart rate, but I think exercise actually lowers your blood pressure. My husband keeps track of his BP for his doctor, and it is a LOT lower right after he exercises.

Lulu is absolutely right in everything she is saying.  I dont know about MS but you need to have a full work up by your md.  Im not trying to be mean but it was very foolish (I have been foolish with myself sometimes from being scared of the unknown) after an episode like you described to leave the hospital, Im sure you were scared, so please dont miss your appointment tomorrow and tell you PCP everything that happened and make sure he does a full work up on you and doesnt blow anything off, no one could possibly have much insight into what occured with you on the internet.  Also dont do anything strenuous before you go tomorrow.

GOOD LUCK

I have real trouble getting my cardio or my neuro to even consider the connection between my MI and my MS.... it is pretty obvious to me that the vasospasm that caused my heart attack is somehow related since they could find no other cause - no high BP, no high cholesterol, no high anything and absolutely no blockages.  Just a heart attack for some unknown, unexplained reason.

I worry about people leaving the ER or hospital without being properly treated and discharged. If they had known you were there and you left, technically your insurance could deny coverage because we have to wait and get permission to leave the medical facility.

I hope your doctor can shed some light on this tomorrow.

It wasn't against anyone's advice. No one even saw me. I did however call my doc and am going over there tomorrow. But i just wanted to know if this was linked to ms. It would make sense as the vagus nerve (cranial nerve#10) tells the heart wen to slow.

You mean to tell us you didn't wait to be seen and left the hospital against medical advice?  That's not a good thing to do when you are dealing with cardiac issues.

You really need to be thoroughly evaluated for heart problems, and you need to do so soon.  This type of episode is probably a red flag warning that something else major is heading your way if you don't get it figured out.

Wow........so no one has had this happen to them? I walked out of the hospital after waiting for 20 mins. By that time my bp and heart rate were back to normal.
