So I wanna know, or do I?

by Rena705, Jan 07, 2008 08:07PM
My big sis Heather is gonna have a fit but I am gonna have my left upper molar pulled tomorrow afternoon as it is driving me crazy!!!  I had a root canal done on Halloween night and let me tell ya, don't get any dental work done on Halloween night cause it is just SCARY!!!

Sorry Heather but I can't stand it anymore cause he definitely did not get all the nerve and it feels like someone is in there with a jackhammer most days!

So what I want to know is, if it is going to be as bad as my imagination is telling me it's going to be?

I had my wisdom teeth out years ago but they put me under so I don't remember anything about it.

Should I ask my really nice dentist for extra freezing cause I am extra chicken or what?

My only concern is that the pain is actually Trigemeinal Neuralgia possibly triggered by the earlier work.  If this is the case the extraction could make it worse.  I don't know this for sure, but I would certainly ask him and your neuro about it.

Boy, I would have him give me everything in his office.  I am having worse pain in a 15 year old root canal that is clearly part of the TN.  My pain is in several of my teeth and along my lower jaw.

Good luck.  Quix

Hey Quix...actually they have decided that it is not Trigeminal Neuralgia at all, just the Paratrigeminal Neuralgia, not the same thing (thank goodness)!  We have discussed it at length and the pain is centralized in the one tooth, just couldn't get to that darn last little bit of nerve!

I will get them to give me a little bit of everything they want that will kill the pain.

The dentist actually said he would rather pull the tooth now than have it kick up a stink 2 years from now and have to deal with it then when I am not possibly in the position to deal with it...he has a good point I think!

I will let you know how it goes...hopefully tomorrow night before the freezing leaves me and I hit the sack!

Thanks Quix!

Okay.  Sometime explain the difference with the ParaTrigeminal Neuralgia to me.  When my pain explodes it is in just one tooth, but then it slowly spreads to include the adjacent teeth the upper teeth and my entire lower jaw.

I'm off to bed.  this whole deal with the forum format has me exhausted.  But my niece who know a whole lot about the construction of forum pages has some great ideas.  She's a contributor for Perverted Justice (Dateline's Child Predator series) and has 15 or so convictions to her name.  Anyway, she's going to see if she can help me give MedHelp some constructive suggestions.

Thanks, this info was enlightening to me.

I have another strange phenomenon.  Sometimes when I am having the jaw pain, I told the dentist it felt like there were teeth between the other teeth.  Well, guess what?  There were.

I really think I was supposed to be a twin.  I have been blessed with an additional set of tooth buds.  I was so happy years ago to hear that.  Only one wisdom tooth which I had pulled and extra teeth--Yeah!

Only, now not so great as the teeth are growing upside-down into my upper jaw bone!  Has anyone ever heard of this?  This would be major work to extract and I am not about to go down that route, unless absolutely necessary, at this point in time.  No major problems that I know of.  I tried to see if this could be related to my migraines through some nerve compression or something.  I only found a small amount of reading...nothing major.  Hardly anything on the web.  So, is this really strange, or what?

Any other info that you could share?
