So much to be thankful for

Just wanted to share a bit of good news. I know often things seem daunting so I thought I would share. It was a year ago at this time when I was admitted to the hospital with my initial onset. After first thinking I had a stroke, then a brain tumor, several MRIs and a spinal tap later, I was diagnosed in February. I've been on Betapheron since then. After adjusting the the medicine, life continued as normal. I am happy to say that at my 1 year mark, I've yet to have a relapse and have experienced only minor irritating symptoms. I am very grateful for my Neuro (whom I see routinely every 3 months) and for living in a country which provides me with outstanding medical insurance. I know that sometimes it's hard to see light at the end of a long dark tunnel, so hopefully my good news can lift some spirits. Sending positive energy and love your way!

The first year is a lot of adjusting to. My hairdresser told me she is newly diagnosed. I told her I thought adaptability was the key to this thing. Your body can do anything. Adjusting to sudden changes is success.

I am grateful that I do not think about MS that much anymore. I was diagnosed in 2009. I am grateful they have so many more drugs to slow progression. I am grateful they think pain is a symptom of MS. I am grateful for this forum. I am grateful I get to volunteer with the NMSS. I take pictures at events, co lead a support group, and do advocacy work. I am grateful for family and friends. I am grateful to be in a research study to come up with a blood test to diagnose and treat MS.

If I had three wishes they would be for a cure, remylenization, a quick diagnosis process.
