SoluMedrol didn't work

Please excuse me if this question has been addressed in past.  I am 9 days out from getting 5,000 mgs. of IV SoluMedrol.  I have had more results from a dosepack than this massive amount of steroids.  It did make the inside of my mouth & lips swell and my throat felt like I was breathing fire.  Gol bless MD Anderson.  I wasn't able to eat either.  I have RA, MS, Meniere's, and

Also, if anyone out there has both RA and MS, would you please share what treatment regime you are taking?

Soft hugs to all and Thank you in advance.

Thanks for answering.  Because of gastric bypass surgery, I cannot take oral steroids for more than 7 days.  Because I felt like a fire breathing dragon after the 3 rd dose, I don't think I was supposed to take that much by any point of entry.  The inside of my mouth & lips swelled the 4 th day.  My tongue swelled on the 5th & my BP went through the roof.  I lost my sense of taste & it has not returned (last dose 9 days ago).  I could not eat due to the fire from my throat to be stomach.  I had the vertical diplopia in Sept., so I kinda think maybe the flare could be on the down side.  However, my RA is just about always rearing its ugly head, and it wasn't helping it either.  I never thought about Benedryl.  They always gave it to me before my infusions.  Thank you for reminding me of this.

Can a person truly be allergic to steroids?  Since the MS Dx, the only RA med I can have is the Methotrexate.

Thank you again for answering.

Everyone is different. I do fine on IV steroids. Some people they do not help. Others have rebound effect. They get better than after the IV they get worse. Sounds like an allergic reaction. I have a friend with MS who is allergic to steroids. She has the same reaction plus intense itching.

Steroids do not alter the course of disease they only help at the time for symptoms. A person can have MS and not use steroids. I do not know about the other illnesses. Steroids work on inflammation.

May be benadryl would help the steroids. I get it with steroids. Dose packs are very different than IV steroids. Did they do a taper with you with the IV and was it at the beginnig you swelled or later?
