Steroid use, IV vs. Oral

Hi all,

Got a question. I am on lots of oral prednisone at the moment. Finished day 3 today. I don't feel a whole lot improvement in my symptoms yet. My face is starting to tingle, numb and some pain again,but the other side this time,  and my leg is still not working well. My stomach is extremely upset from the steroid. So, if I had gone with the IV steroid, would it have helped more at this point? Do you think I should call neuro tomorrow and let her know not much improvement? Does it take a while to "kick in"?

I cant sleep, probably from steroid, or possible my life right now. I have overdone it this weekend, and my body SO wants and needs to sleep, but my mind wont allow it.

Any thoughts on the steroid situation?

Do the steroids sometimes don't work? I didn't even realize this...not good.

Hi--I've just been on quite a bit of oral steroids for a couple months too. You're right that they do often cause sleeplessness and stomach irritation. I think the IV type is always much much stronger and delivers a real punch! I'd just sit back and see what the whole treatment involves. There's no gurantee either of us will see any positive results, but I'm just giving it a try. Good Luck! Jane
