Supplements

I'm curious to know if you take ANY supplements specifically FOR Multiple Sclerosis. If you do, will you please let me know WHAT you take and HOW MUCH? I always hear new things here and there. People say try this or try that but they don't have MS! By the way, I'm currently taking Fish Oil, B12, D3, Magnesium & a One A Day. Thanks for your help!

I   take                                                                                                                            b-12- 5,000mcg zip melts, One every day-GNC
Triple strength omega complex (3,6,9 ) 1,605mg 3x a day-GNC
High potency D-3 1,000 IU- 2  a day-Spring Vally
women's once a day

I take all at night except the omega because it is 3x a day.  I do feel like they help me to fell a bit better but I have only been taking them gor about 2 weeks.  My Dr. ok'd all of it and says it's a good idea to start them.  I had my V D level tested before I started the supplements and it was right where it is suppposed to be.  My Dr. told me to just take one D3 a day at the most 2 but no more than that bucause you can overdose on V. D

I'm reading up on more vitamins that will be good for us Msers to take.  If anyone has anything to let me know of that is good for us to take please let me know! Thanks to all and I hope this helps

I had all my vitamin levels checked and they were high including D. When I started losing weight with out trying my Doctor put me on a daily vitamin and probiotic on top of my yogurt.

My Dr, also put me on Chromium Picolinate for insulin levels because of the other medicines I am on. I also take Milk Thistle for my liver. All my Drs. and pharmacist are aware of what I am on. The problem with supplements in the U.S. is you do not really know what is in them and they vary greatly between manufacturers.

There is a lot of confusing stuff out on the internet and in stores. This is why I only take things under the guidance of health care professionals. Also like medications everyone reacts differently. There are certain supplements which react with certain health issues. Supplements also interact with medications.

I try to get vitamins and supplements through diet first.

Hi Erin,
In the last month I saw an Iridologist (eye swarmy to the soul) who looked into my eye and saw that I had a 'leaking gut' issue that leads to autoimmune disease. So I paid $110 for a months supply of probiotic,Vit D, Omega 3 with DHL, calcium, magnesium, multivitamin.

I felt good for a few days but sadly no change but I guess early days. I think all good for general health but isn't a cure.I am now looking at the discount vitamin shops to replenish my stock of supplements.

Blessings

I take them all it feels like. Unless I'm having one of my swallowing issue weeks that is :(

B-12, B-6, D3, Folic Acid, C, Magnesium and something else but I can't think right now what it is. My D lvl was terribly low which started me on all the vitamins. Thinking maybe they would make a difference but they haven't.

Hi erin,

I am currently taking B-12 (1000mcg), Centrum, Calcium (500mg), and D (2000 iu).  I didn't start taking the D until I was diagnosed in Feb 2010.  So I suppose you could say that the only one I'm actually taking for MS is the D.
