Swallowing? Anyone with an MS dx have this?

I am having some crazy sensations happen when I swallow foods that are a little thick and slide against the back of my throat.

When my arm is touched lightly enough to tickle it causes me to have a burning sensation that spreads through my arm and lasts a while.  It is terribly uncomfortable.

I am having the same sensation when I swallow certain things.  It is so uncomfortable.  Not painful, maybe it is painful, but I can not tell actually.  What I feel is a very uncomfortable sensation on the back of my throat.  It does eventually go away.

I think it is sensory and I think it is probably MS related but not sure.  That is why I am hoping to hear from those with a DX of MS on this.

Thanks,

I've had a problem with swollowing as well. It's like my tongue forgets how to push the food, drink, or even spit, down my throat. I have to lean my head back to get the food to my throat, then it goes down. I just assumed it was MS.

I don't have paresthesia when I swallow, but I have the throat lock that Shell mentioned, as well as some weird cramping and pulling sensations in my throat.

Lately the 'digastric' muscle under my chin has been giving me problems on the right.  It feels like it wants to cramp, so I shove my fingers in there and massage it, which gives me some relief.

Hey lady,

I have had swallowing issues.  Being stubborn, I would not just chalk it up to my MS, and went to the ENT.  He didn't find anything.  So, it was MS related in the end, but I really did not have anyone tell me that officially.

My symptoms were a little different than yours.  During the months of the 1st attack, I had to think through chewing and swallowing. Just didn't happen naturally anymore.  That lasted about 3 months. Not too long after that I had a feeling in the front of my throat (where the groove is ) that felt like it needed to be pulled out in order for me to swallow properly.  That feeling was combined with a feeling like my neck and head were shoved together.  All tight, tense, etc.  Hard to explain.  That lasted for many months, I'm not even sure how long.  But lately it's been very good.

I hope yours passes soon.  Mine is probably from the lesion in my spinal cord.  Most my issues are from that bugger.

((hugs))
