Symptons worsening in heat

Just too make sure I get the right wording I have copied it down.

Dr Kantor said in a post this:

I don't understand this, I thought the only problems that worsened in heat were due to ms.

Do other nerve problem worsen in the heat also, or could they????????????????????

Or does it mean if symptons worsen in the heat mean that person has to have ms???????????????

I think he wrote this on one of my question threads. Heat can have adverse effects and exacerbate many kinds of disorders and problems, especially if it's a lot of exposure. And I think also that neurological problems that are not MS will respond negatively to increased heat. That said, MS stands out as worsening significantly with minor increases in body temperature--for me, just a half degree or so will bring on the buzzes, weakness, Lhermitte's, etc. And if it's more than about 75 degrees outside and I'm out in it, everything lights up. I do not think that this level of sensitivity is something you see even with other neurological disorders.

So...yes, other nerve problems can worsen with heat because physiology is temperature dependent, and no, symptoms worsening in heat are not necessarily 100% indicative of MS--the rest of the picture has to be considered, including what symptoms we're talking about. If you're having symptoms that are like a "relapse" and may include paresthesias, weakness, and especially the classic Uthoff's sign in which the vision suffers with heat, that does *point* to MS.
