Taking Cymbalta, helps with pain!!!

HI,

I started Cymbalta about three weeks ago.  It has made a huge difference in my pain, my ability to handle the pain I still have (it doesn't take it away) and also my attitude toward everyday life.

Before I would be in my recliner, know that I had to get up and let my dogs out, or whatever, and really have to try and convince myself that I could handle it.  Not these days.  Not only do I get up to let them out, I will actually throw a ball, or wash their bedding, etc. while I am up!  I know others can relate as to how chronic pain truly ***** the life out of you; this med has made a difference for me, I beleve.

One word of caution though; my doctor told me to start on 30mg.  That ended up being too much (it is an antidepressent with pain modifiying component) and it started making me a little "spun up".  So I open the capsule and dump about half out, then take it.  Hey look, I'm a chemist!

Love to you all,  Amy

I took 30 mg for quite awhile, and recently started on 60...it has been 2 weeks, and I feel noticeably better.  Usually, something always hurts and it wakes me up at night. I would say my intensity of aches and pains has gone from 6 or 7 down to 3 or 4.
Now if I can just get some uninterrupted sleep, I might be less fatigued. What a blessing that would be!

I started Cymbalta, 30 mg, about 2 weeks ago knowing that it did help with pain but just not how much.  Yesterday i would have agreed that i was feeling better in  a few areas, not sure about the pain because i have was taking something dailiy for pain, but yesterday my day turned to s**t....i had a good day until i got home from work after 4 hrs.  I fell lousy when i got home and slept for 14 hrs and felt tired and hurt all over when i woke up.

I dont know why this seems to hit me in spurts. a few good days and a few bad days. It still confuses me.

but will pay more attention in the next few days, thank you for your experience.

Also sometimes i just forget what i am told.

hugs, meg

Funny!   My neuro, N3, is trying to blame my latest 2 month long episode with 30+ MS symptoms ON Cymbalta!   I take 120 mg's a day, and have for 6 months.

Elaine, I am glad to hear that.  I will pray that it gives him some level of relief!  Remember if it makes him "spun up" he can always take some out of the capsule.

Shell, thank you for your nice words of encouragment.  I am truly glad I have tried this med.  Love to you both, Amy

Lady! This is good news! I'm so glad! Wish he would of tried it sooner!

You are an 8 or 10 on the pain scale daily, oh my Gosh Amy I'm so glad you are getting some much deserved relief.

I did not know Cymbolta had both components, but I'm sure glad to know now.

Hope this keeps you throwing those balls! Dogs must be having a party for ya!

ttys,
Shell

Thanks so much Amy.  I am going to email Dr. K in NYU and ask for a prescription for Craig.  It's worth a try.
Thank you.

I also take Cymbalta.  I have been taking a low dose for awhile, but at my last neuro appt. she upped it to the usual theraputic dose.  I notice a difference for sure.  Still have the aches and pains, but the level of discomfort is cut in half.  I think that is resulting in better sleep (not great but better) and a little more energy in the daytime.

Hi Elaine,  My whole spine hurts as well, and my legs.  I would say they are both equal with their level of pain, sometimes absolutely debilitating.  If child birth is a ten, these can reach a level eight for me.

I am also on neurontin, and the last time I saw my neuro he said "ok, we have pretty much maxed out on neurontin, lets try Cymbalta." (I still take the neurontin too.) I am so glad he did.  It took exactly nine days for me to see a difference, and let me tell you it was noticable.  This is just me, and I was hesitant to try it but I am soooo glad I did.  Craig can always stop taking it, but in my opinion the only thing to loose is pain.  The only side effect that I have experienced (and I am very med sensitive) is my coffee tastes wierd in the am.  Found out if I chew cinamon gum with it it is ok.  Whatever works.  God bless you friend, Amy

Hi Amy,  where is your pain?  Craig has foot pain, and back pain up and down his spine.  I am wondering if Cymbalta would help him.  He keeps increasing the Neurontin but it doesn't seem to make a difference.
Thanks for posting this.
