Time taken to recover

Since my severe pain in the back of my head last week it has been 7 days and i am still getting over it. The pain has gone but it washed me out and there have been an increase in some symptons mostly numb tingle lips and a sharp pain off and on in my right temple area.

My local doctor placed me back on steroids for a couple of weeks and that has helped a little.

Is it normal to take so long to get over somethimg like this?

I am sorry about your pain. I know it all too well.

When I get my facial pain, it takes at least 2 weeks to start feeling better. (that is after at least a week of the excruciating pain).

Just letting you know it can take lots of time to heal,

Thinking of you,
Michelle

I'm sorry to hear that you're not feeling well and I hope the steroids help soon.  Are you taking oral or IV steroids?  When my head pain (TN and occipital neuralgia) have been the worst, oral steroids did zilch to help it.

Like JJ, though, I have to agree that 7 days isn't long.  My head pain lasted in a severe state for over a month until I could titrate up to an effective dose on the neurontin (and htat was with IV Solumedrol).  I certainly am not minimizing what you're going through, just saying to take it easy and give yourself some time to recover.

Hey fellow ozzie, welcome!!

Is it normal to take so long.... ummmm 7 days is not long from my neck of the woods. It's quite possible that these sx will stick around for a good while yet, MS fatigue seems to have a beat of its own, tingles may stick around for good and the head pain such as migraine or TN come and go when ever it wants too, though its anyones guess what your MS is doing, its alway unique to the MSer.

You've had a relapse which could take weeks to months to get through, be kind to your self and take it easier for a while longer. if you look at the top right of the screen you'll see a yellow icon, that has all the health pages for MS, there are good ones regarding relapses, fatigue, you'll also find one on parathesia (tingles). I'm not sure if there is one on TN or migraine but there is one regarding pain and MS that might be worth reading too.

Cheers.............JJ
