OMG, you take it easy after your appointment today. I hope the extraction goes well and your doc gives your good drugs for the pain afterwards. Take care my friend.

HI Gus and thank to you all. I have had tinnitus for years and I had learned to ignore it, except for when it comes time to sleep. Doni, I never thought about focusing on it. I think I will try that.
The reason it has been bothering me so much is I can't stand a lot of noise anymore. So during the day I turn everything off. That way I don't overload as I try to tasks completed. Even if I listen to music it is not for more than an hour. After the hour or so it gets on my nerves. So I have not been able to drown it out with everyday noise.
Oh well I guess I will just have to live with it. Now I am off to get dressed. I have dental appt at 10:30. I am having 4 teeth pulled.
I am afraid of a dentist...lol

I get it in both ears....and it sounds like the back of my neck as well....it drives me crazy and lately I have it daily, for a few months now.. I can't find anything that helps except to add noise.. but thats not always possible.... If you find something, let us know too...OK
take care if you can hear this...hehehe

I get occasional tinnitus in my left ear - sometimes lasts awhile, other times it is brief. Sometimes it is really loud, and other times not so loud...I just try to ignore it.
My mom has constant tinnitus - she said that when she was in a quiet room, it would make her crazy! Not sure what the cause is for her - but her doctor recommended biofeedback(?), (I think) and she said that it helped immensely. Something to check into for you?
Hugs,

Hi Terry,
I know what your talking about, my friend. It seems if I'm over tired or over warm mine gets so loud it drowns every thing else out! It used to be just every now and again, but for the last couple of years it is constant.
I think I've just gotten like Julie, and tune it out. If I'm laying down to sleep, I just kind of focus on it and it helps me to drift off to sleep.........that is when I do sleep....hahaha
Good luck and I hope this gets easier to deal with for you.
Hugs,
doni
I have it in both ears for probably 4 years now. I just finally got used to it. When my ENT said there was pretty much nothing that can be done for it, well I decided that I'd try to ignore it. It is annoying at times and I know it has affected my hearing, but I did eventually learn to not focus on it. Now I wish I could learn to do that with the numbness and tingling in my feet and legs. Hmmmm...maybe someday.

i wear hearing aids, and when turned up loud the other noise drowns out the ringing. at night, i have to have a somewhat loud fan on or something otherwise my brain concentrates on the ringing too much and thus can't sleep. i wear headphones to listen to the tv/movies otherwise i can't make out a lot of words - it is just noise to my ears/brain. same with conversations.
basically i have to cancel it out with another noise that isn't so irritating. i tried OTC compounds, didn't help.
I heard that there's supplements you can take to help, but I can't remember what it was.
