Totally silly question...

DH and I were just watching FAMILY FEUD and the family won the $20,000. As I watched them hop around in celebration I wondered how many of us can jump and get both feet off the ground at the same time?

I sure can't!!!  Can you?

funny..

Made me remember my 1st visit w MS Neuro. She asked me to jump on each leg individually, and then both together.

When indeed I couldn't, I asked her to try it then!  She said she could, and there in most likely a Neuro deficet in myself, as I was Young, and that people my age "should"be able to jump!

This was before I was DX, and I was AdAMENT, that she showed me she could jump.  (by the way, she is not too funny) , but she indeed jumped after I wouldn't let it go.  Well, she did jump.

Guess that was the moment I really respected her, and figured I may as well listen to her!

I am not the easiest patient ;)

Depending on the day, YES!  Depends on my balance.

I still can't tandem walk for beans.  I wonder what's at work with cycling, etc., because I can still do that most days.  Balance poses in Yoga, forget it! - unless I'm standing at a wall...Must be a different part of my noggin!

Ok this su_cks, I cant skip either!

As a gymnast, even at my age i still think of my self as one lol i still expect to be able to do the simple stuff. Ok i'll conceed i'm long past back flips on the beam but skipping, pleeeeaaase.

LOL I stretch with one leg flat out on my kitchen bench, I do squats holding on to the bench, and walls are great exercise tools too. lol 40 repeditive jumps without a breaks for a latte, slice of mud cake, nap and having a mouse under foot and i'd not be doing that either. lol 40

Cheers.........JJ

My tai chi instructor has us doing a bone strengthening exercise in class - he says studies show we don't get enough impact to strengthen those leg bones.  It involves jumping up and down 40 times -not big jumps, but little tiny bounces.  Only once in four years of Tai Chi have I been able to get both off the ground.

I had a student trainer who worked on this with me, and sometimes I could do it for her, as well.  But most times the message just doesn't get that far down my legs.  I thought perhaps it was because I am tall?  But now all you shorter people tell me the same thing, so I have to discard that excuse!  LOL

Opie, I suppose we will see you on the balance beam at the Olympics this summer?  :-)

Jordan said "Nope"! to this question and laughed when I read it to him.   A funny, he was shooting basketball with a friend (that is really good) and the friend said I will give you 3 shots to my one because you aren't very good and he laughed.  Jordan laughed also and said "yes this is true and I'll take my 3 shots because I can't jump, run and my hand doesn't work very good" and then when we play golf I will give you 3 shots to my one because you are not very good.  The kid said I'll take it because you are right I am not very good.  Glad Jordan can still find humor and his friends can also...

I can do it. I am sure I could skip rope too, although my feet might be angry at me afterwards. I do not have mad opie skills, however. I did try to stand on one leg and put the other foot over my head, but no go. My fiance thinks I'm insane now, but I tried.

I can, but depending on my balance that day I may bang into a wall on the way down.  i tried to jump rope a while ago and was dismayed that i couldnt do it at all, just couldnt jump high enough over and over again in order to qualify as actually skipping..

Since ess mentioned "the whole cast" I think we all had better stop testing ourselves before we end up IN a big cast.

But..... no, I can't.  My brain thinks I can though and I'm not about to disappoint it with the ugly truth (and I assure you it would be ugly indeed!).

Oy, what a thought.

I know for sure I can't tandem walk, and I wouldn't try hopping or jumping if I had the whole cast of The Biggest Loser holding me up!

This is not just because of my bad ankle, though I cringe just thinking of that one. My balance is the pits. What ever happened to that little rope jumper and hop scotcher of 500 years ago?

That is funny,  the only jumping I can do is into the swimming pool.

Plus I had surgery on both ankles..

Wait I jump out the chair when watching football, does that count ?   :-D

Have a great weekend

YES I CAN!  I can also stand on one leg and hold the other foot over my head.  Sometimes the balance is a little off, but I don't have any leg mobility problems. Jumping with my eyes closed is sometimes a littly um,...off!

This is funny.

hmmm not sure it means anything though, my mother has never been able to jump, something my brother and I thought was hilarious back when we were kids.

I can still jump, I actually practice everyday though, you'd laugh your self silly if you saw the things i practice, who'd of thought you'd ever need too lol

Oh something you might find interesting and sort of related, ds was watching me practicing my tandem walking and had a go too, well he was actually no better at it than me. With his eyes open he was wobling all over the place trying to keep his balance, closed eyes he was exactly the same. I can do it with my eyes open but closed and i'm totally bummm on ground. Makes me wonder if that little neuro test has any meaning at all lol.

ROFL I just tried jumping with my eyes closed, hmmmmmm wont try that one again!

Cheers............JJ

Jump? Are you kidding? First thing they would have to do is pick me up off of the floor. :)

If they gave me a small step ladder I might be able to get both feet off the floor as I jumped from it.

I an going to say it depends on the day for me. Today and the past week I can barely do anything. When I am doing good I want to say I can but I will check when I am good again lol.
