Tremors

Sorry to post again - but I seem to have now developed some sort of body tremor.  It's been about 24 hrs and not any better.  It is worst when I am sitting and relaxed.  It's like I'm rocking side to side sort of.  If I concentrate hard I can reign it in a bit for a few seconds....the fatigue has become hideous again.

Has anyone had this?  Does it mean anything that I'm all of a sudden over the past few days getting new symptoms?  This tremor thing is really unnerving...thanks for any input.

Rita

Hi there and welcome. Would you start a new thread and tell us a bit about yourself? I assume you have an MS diagnosis, but it's not clear. Anyway, this is a great forum and you'll like it here.

Thank you... and nice to meet you!  I am still waiting to hear from my doc to see what he says about this.  I sway kind of like I'm on a ship in rough seas....Now it's worse if I close my eyes or tip my head back.  Did yours start before the Rebif or after?

Hi I'm Storm. I have been having lots of tremors on my left side for 5-6 months now. I have been taking Lorazapam 1mg generic for Ativan twice a day. Also 300 mg twice a day of Carbatrol. This seems to help a lot. It almost halts the tremors totally. I also take Rebif injections 3 times a week and this makes me feel like my muscles are getting stronger. I walk about 1 1/2 miles a day without tremors and I'm usually good to go araound the house. You might ask your doctor about these medicines, I hopes this will help you.    Stormy

Thanks for your input!  I really appreciate it.  Am still hoping it will all go away, but it's worse today, so who knows.  I feel like I'm standing on a boat in rough seas, lol.  If the doctor ever calls, we'll see what he says.  Took a nap and that made me feel a little perkier.....

Nice to meet you too, Kathy... :)

Talk to ya later,
Rita

Hi everyone...I am not sure what a tremor is like...My head wobbles at times as my family says...(why do you wobble your head)..like I'm nuts or something...I just told them I don't know..it happens?? Is that like a tremor?

Also, I have noticed when I'm cooking...I have accidentally put my fingers in boiling water and didn't notice the heat till later when they turned reddish...I wondered if I really did put them in the water...guess I did..

should I keep track of these types of things for the new Neuro? Or will he/she think I'm just nit picking if you know what I mean?

I have had tremors for about a month now; I woke up one morning with my hands and head shaking, and over the next few days, my upper body joined the party and then my gait was affected.  I went to my PCP who ordered blood work and a brain MRI, which showed "multiple mm area sized increased abnormal water signal scattered throughout supratentortial white matter tracts.  The appearance and distribution of these lesiions is far and away most consistent with multiple sclerosis".

So TA DA!  here I am.  Looking back, I recognize other episodes in my life that doctors couldn't explain that were most likely earlier symptoms, such as severe dizziness and incoordination in 1989 and 2005, as well as fatigue.  I see a neurologist on March 12 to continue the process of getting a dx.

I take 5 mg. of diazepam at bedtime for muscle spasms, and this seems to calm the tremors a little, but I have read that tremors are difficult to treat.  So, Rita, I just hope that they leave you soon, because they are rather freaky (the term I used with my PCP).  I'm tired of dropping the soap in the shower and feeling like I have to be very very careful while chopping onions; heck, I seldom have the energy to do much cooking now anyway.

Hopefully, this too shall pass, or at least lessen to a tolerable level :o), and soon, too!

It's nice to meet you.  Take care.
Kathy

Hi...

I have not started the Rebif yet.... still haven't heard from the nurse.  I guess I will try again Monday.  I have it in a drawer in my fridge so I don't have to see it every time I open the door... :)

I called the office again this morning, but still haven't heard back.  I guess in the neuro realm it's really not an emergency or anything.  We are in the midst of a major snow storm here and most businesses are closing early.  Maybe he will call after that.

The people here at work say it is worse than yesterday.  I know if I close my eyes or try to stand with my feet together it is definitely worse than it was.  I think it kind of scared my son this morning when he noticed it - I saw the look in his eyes.  I think I'm getting a little scared too....

Thank you for the kind thoughts... :)  Hope you guys are doing OK today...

Hi Rita,
I would call the neuro.  Did you start the rebif with the rebif nurse yet?  If you are not on any new drugs, it may be something related to the MS.
So I would call him and tell him about the tremor and the increased fatigue.  You could probably increase the Provigil from half to a whole one.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that this is short lived in duration for you.
