Twitching legs and numb hand during MRI

Hi everyone! I finally got my brain and c-spine MRI done tonight (without contrast). A cough kept me from my first appointment and a power surge that fried the machine's circuit board postponed it a second time so I am glad this appointment went off without any more delays. :-)

I had a couple of strange things happen while I was being scanned and I am unsure as to whether or not they were anxiety related or if they were spasticity related so I am hoping someone here can shed some light.

One leg twitched a lot during the brain scan and by the time I got the c-spine finished, both arms were sore and my hands were tingly and numb (I kept checking to see if they were clenched and they weren't). I did not experience either at my last scan almost 2 years ago but the spasticity is a new symptom in the last 12 months.

I have overdone it a bit this week with a lot of overtime at work and being out in the heat more than I wanted so I think that might have been a factor too.

Any input is greatly appreciated,
Corrie

Thanks Joie! I didn't say anything to the tech because I was trying hard to stay still so I wouldn't have to stay in longer! :-)

Arms are still sore and a bit weak today but none the worse for wear. Glad to know that sort of thing does happen. With my hyperreflexia in arms and legs I never know what will happen. Next MRI I will be more prepared.

Sorry to hear you had so many adventures getting to your scans, but happy to hear you had them! It's not unusual to have spasms, twitching, etc in mri machine. The magnetic field impacts the electrical impulses in the muscles causing them to fire. I had the same experience and researched it extensively afterwards.
